The SDI to HDMI Mini Converter from Blackmagic will accept an SDI signal and convert it to an HDMI output. You can also choose to de-embed SDI audio to balanced AES/EBU or analog audio outputs. Use this device to connect SDI-based equipment to big-screen televisions, video projectors, and other HDMI displays.

Auto Switching SD and HD
Mini Converters instantly switch between standard definition and high definition video formats and changeover is automatic when the video input changes. A huge range of video standards are supported, including NTSC, PAL, 1080i/59.94, 1080i/50, 1080psf/23.98, 1080psf/24, 720p/59.94 and 720p/50 formats, plus new formats can be added via USB.
Redundant SDI Input
Mini Converters feature a unique redundant input for mission critical tasks such as broadcast or live events. You can connect a redundant cable to the second input, so if the main input is lost due to cable damage or any other cause, the Mini Converter will automatically switch over to the redundant input cable.
New 3Gbps SDI Technology
Only Mini Converters include the latest 3Gbps SDI technology, and upgrades can be loaded via the built-in USB connection for future video format compatibility. 3Gbps SDI is also fully compatible with all your standard-definition and high-definition SDI equipment.
Built-in AES/EBU or Analog Audio
Standard 1/4" jacks are built in for balanced analog or AES/EBU audio. Because Mini Converters use standard 1/4" jack connectors for all audio connections, you can use standard cables commonly available from any pro audio store. Unlike other converters, Mini Converters don't need custom cables, as any balanced 1/4" jack cable can be used. Mini Converters are also unique as the same 1/4" jack connections can be switched between professional balanced analog audio or AES/EBU digital audio.
High Quality
Mini Converters are built to highest quality standards with low SDI jitter so you get the longest SDI cable lengths combined with multiple internal power supplies for ultra low noise broadcast-quality analog video and audio. Unlike other converters, Mini Converters don't use "low grade" video electronics just to save cost. Mini Converters feature the highest-grade broadcast quality analog audio and video electronics.
International Power Supply
Unlike other converters, a universal power supply is included with international socket adapters for all countries. This lets you take Mini Converters with you to any location worldwide, and plug directly into the local power sockets. To stop power accidentally being disconnected, a cable tie point is included to lock down the power connection tight!

SDI to HDMI Mini Converter is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 61.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best converter for the money Now that Avid MC 6.0 works with the Kona LHi card, I needed a converter that would take a 1080 23.98psf signal from Avid (Avid doesn't actually output 1080 23.98p) via SDI and force convert it to 23.98p so that I could use it with an HDMI monitor. The HDMI spec doesn't include 23.98psf which is a bit of a gotcha - I couldn't figure out why the HDMI direct out of the Kona LHi wouldn't work on my monitor with Avid, while it did with FCP7. If you don't need custom LUTs in your HDMI converter, this is a great choice for the money. It worked out of the box, and solved my problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from SOME ISSUES I PURCHASED THIS SDI TO HDMI TO USE ON MY BLACKMAGIC 2.5 TO MY MARSHAL 7 INCH MONITOR, AFTER CONNECTION THE CAMERA TO THE MONITOR, NO SIGNAL,,, AFTER MULTIPLE CALLS TO BH I FOUND OUT THAT BLACKMAGIC CAMERA USES A DIFFERENT FREQUENCY THAT WONT WORK ON HDMI MONITORS. I WAS ADVISED FROM BH TO TRY THE LINK FROM INDIPRO. IT WORKED FINE. BUT BLACKMAGIC SHOULD ADVISE CUSTOMERS ABOUT THIS ISSUE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good build quality and stable unit Recently received this unit and tested in our studio using a 150 ft. Canare SDI cable. Sent XAVC-I and HD422 1080 video in 30p and 60p from a Sony PXW-X180 camera to the input of the BMD device and fed HDMI output to LG 43 client display. No issues at all with any configuration. Video out signal was stable and in pretty accurate syn with the input. Lag thru the 150 ft cable was barely noticeable. Haven't tried the audio outputs yet or the redundant SDI input. The software update utility (which needs to be downloaded from BMD website) installs easily and immediately recognizes the mini converter. We'll be testing this in more depth at an upcoming graduation but so far it seems to work as advertised.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works, sorta Wanted to use this to connect video switcher to projectors with DVI input, using a HDMI to DVI cable. Didn't quite work as planned. Note that this only outputs a YUV image, not RGB (called Blackmagic to confirm). Projector couldn't accept YUV image, so had to also use a switcher/scaler to do necessary conversions. It did work to convert HD-SDI image from switcher to HDMI image though, which the scaler accepted without problems. If your display device/projector can accept YUV colorspace, then this would probably work great for image magnification.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Work Well (most of the time) I'm using this converter as an HDMI extender at a church. The projectors are 150+' away from the control booth and RG-6 Coax was already run to those projectors. I used this converter and the HDMI to SDI converter as receiver and transmitter. Beware, this may not work in all situations. Two of the projectors I tried connecting this to didn't accept the input. The cheaper consumer projectors didn't like the signal being fed to it and the image was badly distorted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy installation, nice image quality. I'm using it on my Panasonic HPX500 on field monitoring. It works on every recording mode and the image quality is nice. It saves me alot by using a regular HDMI monitor instead of a HD-SDI monitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does a great job This does a great job of doing exactly what it promises - converting HD-SDI (or SDI) to HDMI. We probably have about 30 of these in our facility, and they hold up fairly well. We have had one or two arrive DOA, and probably a few more that have gone bad - but Black Magic support has always repaired them for no cost. Even with these minor issues, I still give 5 stars. These things are dirt cheap - and do a great job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great Used to convert from my blackmagic switcher to HDMI for projectors since most projectors don't accept SDI, but HDMI has length limitations. Does a great job, From camera, to switcher, to converter (and then through a hdmi to component converter) there was less than 1/4 second lag time. I think most of that lag came from the hdmi to composite converter as I've used HDMI ready projectors and the lag has been far less.
