The Tiffen 72mm Clear Filter is a simple, clear filter with a 1x filter factor and is designed to provide general protection for your lens. This optically clear filter does not affect the overall image quality while helping to prevent dust, scratches, moisture, and other elements from reaching or damaging your lens. This filter features standard coating for helping to reduce flare and improve light transmission.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Clear filter offers general protection for your lens against the elements.
Standard coating for lessening lens flare and improving light transmission.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protecting my valuable investment Really, you don't ask a clear filter to do much more than protect the much more valuable by comparison front element of your lens. This it does admirably, and dust/pollen/models bounce off well, leaving your lens unharmed. Construction feels solid enough, Screws in well (on a Nikon 24-120mm f3.5-5.6D anyways) And has yet to embarrass me by flying off at an inconvenient moment. I'll be honest and say I bought this because it was the cheapest available at the time, and have yet to question it's build quality or 'clearness', and it comes with a padded case that you will never use again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great filter, excellent value I put a filter on every lens, immediately upon purchase and never take them off. They are added protection for my valuable investment. Typically, I don't use a lens cap on them; I hope to never miss that one shot, having to remove the lens cap. I love the clear filters, they don't add any color casts etc. to my photos. Anything can typiclaly be fixed in Photoshop, so I don't use a polarizing or UV filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You need this If you spend thousands of dollars for a camera it makes NO sense to not spend a few extra bucks to protect the lens with a clear filter. Scratch the filter, get a new one. Scratch the lens and get a new one? Ouch. All four of my cameras have this filter. You need this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it should I bought this for my 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 Nikkor. My only complaint is that it makes it a little more difficult to put the lens cap on, but it stays.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not impressed I found that the glass appears to have permanent smudges that will not come off. Using it on Sony NX3 camcorder and, at certain angles, a double reflection from light appears. Maybe that's the nature of using a filter, but I've removed it an will take my chances by shooting unprotected. I'll keep it in my bag for shooting in questionable environments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 72mm Clear Filter for replacement. i use this to protect my Nikon 72mm 85 1.4 LensIt works as well as my Nikon that I had to replace as I dropped my lens and the only damage was the lens protector. Can't find anything that isn't great about it. I works perfectly well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from clear, very clear It does what it's supposed to do very well. I purchased this after scratching one of the lens, and as I go climbing mountain quite a bit, I'm less worreid of scratching the actual lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Equipment That You Must Have The filter is used with Canon EF-S 18-200mm lens mounted on Canon 60D camera and Nikkor AF-S DX 18-200mm lens mounted on Nikon D300S camera for both still photography and video shooting.
