    Manfrotto 143S reviews

143S Flash Shoe for Magic Arm is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap plastic flash shoe I expect better from Manfrotto. The two edges that hold the flash in place are thin plastic. I've gone through three of these now, and I refuse to buy another one. For the same price I can get a METAL cold shoe that I know will hold my flash in place.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for All the comments so far on this product are true. You can break it easily with enough force, especially when you are turning the wrong piece (an easy mistake to make). And because it is made of plastic, you can avoid any flash misfire. Another advantage that I found is that a flash can easily be put on or taken off, which a lot to be said compared to a similar product made of aluminum (I've had several close calls of smacking myself on the face trying to pry a flash off of those). In summary, you get what you paid for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Typical Manfrotto - it just works! Needed these for my Strobist setup. They work well. Not much more I can say - they hold my flashes as they should, are lightweight and cheap. Not being metal is an advantage since you will not get accidental flash discharges.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from My Canon 430EXII doesn't fit on it My Canon 430EXII doesn't fit on it, it's too tight of a fit and I can't engage the lock on the flash. And it's hard to attach the flash shoe to my Manfrotto light stand adaptor. I wouldn't suggest this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Should be redesigned If screwed on properly, meaning using the knurled thumb wheel on the lower half, it will hold up well for light equipment. Otherwise if screwed in as a unit, as pictured on B+H, the screw will eventually pull out. I epoxied mine together between the two halves after learning this, so now it will never come apart again... Which is fine by me. After my fix I'll rate it (5 stars)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cold Shoe no good for the Canon 580 Ex 2 I got this for my light stand rig that I am using with the manfrotto umbrella holder but it doesnt work with my canon flash. I drilled a hole where the quick release sits and have tried a number of things to get the flash shoe to sit and close on this shoe but nothing. 20 dollars wasted and now having to look for something similiar that will hold my flash. Save your money if you cant get one of the best flashes on it and let it tighten like it should.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too fragile Great tool, however it breaks easily I hope that Manfrotto improves the design.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not really recommended It's nice that it's plastic to prevent misfires, but mine came apart during a shoot. The top part that holds the flash (sb800) came off the part that screws into the umbrella bracket.
