Pelican 1730 Overview

The Pelican 1730NF Transport Case without Foam (Black) is a watertight, crushproof and dust proof polypropylene case. It has six easy open ABS double throw latches with stainless steel padlock protectors. It has an o-ring and an automatic pressure release valve with a temperature rating -10 to +210°. There are double grip fold down handles on each side, and polyurethane wheels with stainless steel bearings.

It’s Awkward!

It is a great case for protecting large gear. But it is absolutely the most awkward case I’ve ever had the privilege of hauling. Had to haul a cpu through the airport. It was so cumbersome by the time I got it home I decided to ship it to the next destination and let the carriers worry about it. Otherwise it’s a solid case and does it’s job. Just don’t plan on getting around with it easily.

Like all Pelican cases this one is also solidly built. The pick and pluck foam tears off a little too easily for my taste. My biggest problem with this monster case and the reason I dropped a star is the lack of a handle on the front. It only has two large handles top and bottom... but what about the side?? That would have been super helpful especially for such a massive case.

no lids organizer for 1730 series ??! ... planning to purchase 1730 for briefcase purpose because i'll study overseas in Japan & need to bring more stuff so i can pack it all in one briefcase ...

The foam we received was scored in 1 x1 cubes that could be easily detached to form a snug fit for our contents.
