question

How could I use this with the canon 60D?
Asked by: nathan
Since Canon DSLRs don't have XLR inputs, you would need to use a separate recorder, such as a Zoom H4N to record the audio (24bit 48k would be recommended settings for better quality and dynamic range). I put my zoom recorder in a small shoulder bag when I shoot, for better mobility. Afterwards, you can use the camera audio as a sync reference to sync your shotgun mic audio to in post, and then mute the camera audio. Then, you're ready to edit!

Will the AT875R work on a Panasonic Lumix GH4? ...

Will the AT875R work on a Panasonic Lumix GH4? Does it plug directly in or do I need a pre amp?
Asked by: me
GH5 user here. This mic works well with the XLR attachment for Panasonic. I do believe it needs phantom power but not certain as it's not my main mic. As for plugging it directly into the 1/8" port on the camera I am not sure.

Would this microphone work with the Lumix G7?

Would this microphone work with the Lumix G7?
Asked by: Julian
Yes, this can be used on the GH7 if you buy the 32-float DMW-XLR2 adapter. The XLR-1 adapter will also work but only at 24-bit. The 32-bit float is a highly coveted feature since it virtually assures usable, high quality audio even with very soft or especially when you have unexpected loud peaks that you can then recover easily in your editor.

will a mini xlr cable power this mic?

will a mini xlr cable power this mic?
Asked by: elliott
Yes, you can use a standard XLR female to mini-XLR male cable, like the Kopul Mini-XLR Male to XLR Female Audio Cable (16"), BH # KOMXXLF16, or the Kondor Blue Right-Angle Mini-XLR Male to XLR Female Cable for BMPCC 6K Pro & Canon C70 (17"), BH # KOMNXLRRA17, to send phantom power from a camera's mini-XLR mic input to the Audio-Technica AT875R Short Shotgun Microphone Location Recording Kit.

There is no headphone port on the mic. You would need to monitor the sound from the device you plug the mic into.
