JMI Telescopes Universal Wheeley Bar (Medium, 2.4" Wheels)
Key Features
  • Maximum Payload: 50 lb
  • Tripod Tip-to-Tip Distance: 33-43"
  • Standard 2.4" Diameter Wheels
  • 3.5" Ground Clearance
JMI Telescopes makes this medium Universal Wheeley Bar to support and more easily transport larger field tripods and telescope rigs. It comes with standard 2.4" wheels that raise most tripods 3.5" off the ground, or 5" for Astro-Physics pier mounts. The Wheeley Bar has a maximum payload capacity of 50 lb and tip receptacles with an inside diameter of 2.25" and is adjustable to fit tripods with a tip-to-tip distance from 33 to 43". JMI recommends that this medium Wheeley Bar NOT be used for 12" or larger Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes (SCTs), even if the mount is listed as being compatible, as these telescopes are too heavy for this size and suggests using the large size instead.

JMI Telescopes TPWUMED Reviews

After 12 and 1/2 years it is still going strong.

I ordered this product back in August of 2008 for my Celestron CPC1100 and it is still giving me great service today (2021). It is very heavy duty and I am really glad I bought it. It saves me a lot of teardown and toting time and trouble. It is just as sturdy today as it was when I bought it and shows no wear. I highly recommend this for your telescope dolly needs.

Well packed and documented. All the bolts and screws were supplied and fitted! It works well under a Celestron CPC11 purchased as a second instrument. I can easily move it around my roll off roof observatory out of the way of my 16 and to see stuff that might be obscured by tree branches etc. If I were designing it, I would place the wheels a little further out under the tripod legs but it is stable enough anyway.

Good product, but it could be much more stiff without becoming bulky or expensive by selecting another steel profile. You can clearly see some torsion and flexing when dragging over concrete.

The tripod wheely bars were exactly what we wanted for my wife's telescope. She is a happy woman now and she can move that telescope where ever she wants with ease. Good price...
