    CobraCrane SteadyTracker reviews

SteadyTracker Xtreme is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap Timely Quality I recently purchased a camera stabilizer from B&H that I had been shopping around for for weeks. I saw it in a few other places but either it was overpriced or not from a trusted seller. So i finally found it on the B&H website (which is obviously a trusted reseller) at a GREAT PRICE. I immediately purchased the stabilizer ... (which was like christmas come early). Everything looked great and the stabilizer works amazingly for my freelance videos. Now i can capture angles worthy of cirque du soleil. It has truly instantly changed my level of video production. Two thumbs and a pinky toe way up B&H.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointment with results I bought the CobraCrane SteadyTracker Extreme a couple months ago to use with my 5Dmii for product videos. poor decision. I'm looking to get rid of it because the footage is always too shaky to use. It's made cheaply. The right to left axis is almost impossible to control. If there was another horizontal handle in the middle of the pole it could be better. But as it is ... I would save your money and make your own homemade $30 cheap steadicam or invest in the glidecam if you have the $400-600.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Production Tool I've used the Steady Tracker Extreme with both my Sony EX1R and Z1U for about 5 years. At first glance it looks home made, nothing fancy. The best thing about the Steady Tracker is the lack of that gimbal ball balancing act the other tracking sticks have. To me they are like trying to balance a broom stick on the end of your nose. You are forever chasing your camera and rarely getting the shot you intended. With this piece of gear the balance and the direction are executed with your wrist. Pretty simple. Your arm and elbow dampen any vertical movement. So many people have assumed I'm shooting these cool shots with a full blown high end stabilization system. You can fly around from dutch to to having a perfectly flat and steady horizon within seconds. The negative reviews I've read astound me. This thing is so simple and works so well. I've tried them all in the last 30 years, NAB has huge collections similar items every year, nothing comes close to the great handling I get from the Steady Tracker. It does what it is supposed to do and is really quite inexpensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This really works Okay, it's not the ultimate stabilizer but it really works well in a variety of situations. I use a Canon XF300, it's a little over 6lbs, and I had great results on a recent trip traveling throughout Southwest Alaska's Inside Passage. We were always on the water and if you have ever tried to shoot on a boat you know what I mean. The SteadyTracker Xtreme never got too heavy as it was balanced perfectly with it's adjustments. Definitely worth the price and I highly recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A bit shaky... When I bought this I was expecting smooth stabilization and not shakiness. The SteadyTracker itself seems to be at a good position. I have came up with a lot of cool and creative shots and you can get high shots also. It's a great tool if you are on a budget, and it's a bit shaky also too but not too shaky that you can get with hand held I say it smoothness your shot by 98-99% percent of the time. Those other 1-2% is how shaky your footage will be just a bit. The product is easy to put together and disassemble.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy & complicated at the same time. The best thing about the Steady Tracker Xtreme is that it is incredibly easy to put together. There are only a few pieces to the kit and the directions are uncomplicated. I used the Steady Tracker Xtreme with my Panasonic AG-HVX200 (which is on the heavier side of professional camcorders...I want to say around 8lbs w/ battery attached). I have only two complaints. First: once I got the camera on & tried to balance everything, the bolt that was holding the camera in place would loosen, & the camera would slide. Again, this is probably due the camera being heavier than most camcorders. I'm sure this wouldn't happen with a lighter camera. The second complaint is that the Steady Tracker Xtreme by itself, was pretty heavy. With a camera attached......very heavy. I wish that there was some sort of shoulder harness or some other support system to go with it, but perhaps that would ruin the steadycam effect. Otherwise, once I did a little practicing, it gave me the footage that I wanted.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very bad results I planned on using this for a Vixia camera for B roll type stuff. The only thing good about this cheaply made unit is the weight of the product. Other than that, it was next to impossible to get any usable shots. The design kept hitting my leg and the balance instructions never came to fruition. This product is barely worth the metal which is about $20 I would say. Please save your money and get something with a gimbal for say! This is only good for a door stopper!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from If you know hoe w to use it buy it There are no tutorials on how to use it and film with it ,therefore if you are not a pro do not buy it cause you will still get that shake and jolts on a camera especially the bigger sized ones. Will but it after I learn more camera tricks.
