The Gitzo GS5030VSF Retractable Spiked Feet Adapter Set is a set of retractable rubber/metal spiked feet that fits on any Gitzo tripod from Series 2 and up. These feet simply attach to any Gitzo tripod with removable feet. These feet can be easily transformed into spike or rubber feet by simply turning the rubber cups in or out.
These are problematic because the rubber feet turn too easy and the next thing you know the spikes are digging into your wood floor. The rubber feet need to turn with resistance. I had to apply a tread resistance material to fix the issue. Now they work as they should, spikes when you want or stay in place rubber feet, when you want.
I have an older tripod that came with retractable feet, so I was excited to have this option for my Gitzo. These are okay-- they're not as long as dedicated spikes, but you have the convenience of not carrying something extra. I do feel that they're overpriced, and one of them did fall off. I noticed it, so I was able to screw it back in. Still, it seems like they could have designed a better way of attaching these to the tripod.
