Gitzo GS5370MC Overview

The Gitzo GS5370MC Quick Release Plate is a 3.2" long plate that comes supplied with two 1/4"-20 and 3/8" screws each, plus a video pin. Having two screws available for each size provides a distinct advantage for heavy equipment or longer lenses and scopes. The plate can be inserted into the head's quick release in both directions. To prevent loss, the mounting screws must be threaded out, unlike other brands that use a rubber gasket that can wear out.

This is a "C" type plate, and is compatible with all current (as of 7/08) heads, except for the Off-Center Heads. It is also compatible with the G2285MB and GS3760C quick release adapters. Its screws are made of high quality steel.

Replaces G2382B plate.

Works well with the head in the jpg. Very secure mount. It does measure 3 3/8 long. I ordered one for a tele (appropriate fit for that) and cut a second one down to better fit on the DSLR body (now 2 long).

I wanted another quick release plate for my Gitzo video head tripod, that way I could leave plates attached to 2 different cameras. It was only a minor hassle unscrewing release plate to put on another camera, but now it makes switching cameras a breeze!

The Gitzo GS5370MC Quick Release Plate (Medium) with 2 1/4"-20 & 2 3/8" Screws is not compatible with the Gitzo GH5750QR Series 5 Off-Center Magnesium Ballhead. The width of the compatible plates for the ballhead is 67mm, and the Gitzo GS5370MC Quick Release Plate (Medium) with 2 1/4"-20 & 2 3/8" Screws is 50mm wide. No, it is not compatible with the Gitzo GS5370MC Quick Release Plate (Medium). The Gitzo GH1382QD Series 1 Center Ball Head is an Arca-type compatible ballhead and it comes with the Gitzo GS5370SD QR Plate (which has been discontinued). The Gitzo GS5370DR Standard Quick Release D Profile Plate, B&H # GIGS5370DR, would be the standard original plate for this head, though other Arca-compatible plates should also be compatible for usage.

Yes, you will be able to screw the 1/4 -20 screws into the tripod sockets on the collar for the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8.

The plate looks the same as the one I purchased, but I've been using it on the larger #GH2720QR birding head. the medium refers to the length of the plate. It slides into the grove very easily and is tightened down with the spin lever on the side of rail. The attachment on the G1378M head looks the same, so I don't see why it wouldn't fit. The smaller screw in the mounting plate mates very easily with my camera body, while the larger screw fell right out of the plate. I would remove the larger screw is it is not needed immediately, or you will lose it.
