The Varizoom VZ-Rock is a LANC camera controller featuring all the same functions as Varizoom's ever-popular Stealth-LX series controller, with some enhancements such as a pressure-sensitive side-to-side rocker switch. Broadcast level adjustment capability makes the Rock perfect for event coverage such as sporting events, concerts, and weddings. Additional features include a power on/off toggle for "standby" mode, LED indicator, and edit-search.

Pressure Sensitive Rocker Switch
Unlike many camera controllers, the VZ-Rock comes equipped with a pressure sensitive rocker switch. This allows users to vary the rocker's speed, providing smooth, sustainable zoom adjustments.

VZRock Variable-Rocker for LANC Camcorders is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 84.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than the builtin G10 zoom I'm using this with a Canon Vixia G10 and a Manfrotto tripod and fluid head. The G10's zoom is so touchy I really needed something else. This was well worth the money to me and works very smoothly. This has eliminated the runaway zoom problems I was having with the G10. Note that the data button does not turn off the onscreen display on the LCD but, according to rumor, the Canon zr-2000 is no better in this regard (sounds like it is intended to control an external monitor rather than the LCD). Although the zr-2000 does provide for exposure control. Personally, I chose this over the zr-2000 because the zoom control appeared to be better and not due to it being less expensive (although I had to make this judgment without trying either out since none were available locally).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Varizoom's last forever I use this unit with one of my Sony camcorders I have acquired several VariZoom's over the years and have never had a problem. As the cameras changed my Varizoom's stayed the same and have never failed. I have the all aluminum body units the PG style and the Rock ABS unit for lanc and one for a Panasonic camera . I have different VariZoom's and they all have performed well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Try it you'll like it I have purchased 3 zooms first was a Varizoom 10 years ago and it has never failed. The second zoom I bought was not a Varizoom and it does not work nearly as well the oom is not as smooth nor do I like the feel of the control itself. I regret it and now have replaced it with another VariZoom. Comparing the older varizoom to the newer one the quality and build are the same they have not made it cheaper or flimsier like so many other products of all kinds are doing today.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the best remote I've used I've used 4 or 5 LANC remotes from different manufacturers, and the VZRock is my favorite. The thumb rocker feels good, even after hours of use. And I can get such sweet looking zooms with it that I really wouldn't want to use anything else. Also, the build quality of the whole thing is top notch. It feels very solid and professional.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a nice change I had an older Varizoom unit that I used with my XL-1s. That unit would not work with my new XF300. So I purchased the Varizoom LANC Variable-Rocker unit. I love the smoothness of the zoom control with this. It works really well with my XF300. The only draw back is the mounting screws. They are a little funky. Its not just an easy on easy off with my tripod. Overall I like the unit. The price was right and it works well with the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've been blind but now I see.... With years and years of independent camera work on hundreds of shoots with the tripod handle in my armpit and my hand on the camera zoom, I felt like that was the only way I could get a good pan, tilt and zoom. At a recent fashion/runway show I was jammed next to another cameraman with a zoom remote who swore by it. So,two weeks ago I broke down and ordered the 'Rocker' for my Bogen tripod and Z7U. Yesterday was my first shoot using it and it changed my life. Loved it. Smooth zoom, lots of control. No more intense crunching up to my beloved camera. I'll save that for my girlfriend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This LLLLOOOVVVVE IT Got it for my Sony NX5U oh my gosh. Just plug up and it works like a charm. when you zoom in and stop it automatically eases to a slow smooth stop not just as soon as you let off the control. Rack focusing for depth of Field is good to wish the button was a little bigger but it works fine. Press record right from the controller. I don't know what the other buttons do yet though but once you set up your camera and white balance all you need it zoom depth of field and record. This Is one of my favorite items I own. From now on if a camera doesnt have a lanc connector I dont even want it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but not as good as expected. Thought about giving this 4 stars because it's well-constructed, and it does what it says. I held back because the reviews I'd read before purchasing suggested smoother zooms than I am experiencing. Specifically, I liked the idea that this controller would give almost imperceptible stopping and starting of zooms (one reviewer had said something to this effect). While the start of zooms is really good, and virtually imperceptible, I find the end of zooms to be just a little abrupt. FYI, I'm using it with Canon HF M400/40/41 camcorders. Perhaps I'm being just a bit hard on this product, but for the price, and based on the reviews I'd read, I'm underwhelmed. In any case, if you need this type of device, it is good; just not as good as I'd hoped. And, I do like the convenience of being able to control the camcorder from the tripod arm. Oh, and, as others have said, it certainly does offer greater control (eg. slower, more controlled zooms). Compatibility: With my camcorders, I can turn the power on/off, stop/start recording, switch between manual and auto focus, focus (when in manual), and zoom. Note: to use this with most Vixia camcorders, you need the Canon RA-V1 adapter, which is no longer available in North America. It is available from Europe/Asia (for now, at least).
