It just makes life easier for the price to have the Lectosoinic wireless system mounted to the camera in a solid position where it's not going to fall off while you are working.

It holds the SR SRa or SRb receiver like a boss. The hardware (sold separately) should come with this unit. It's useless without the proprietary hardware.
