Noga MG38CA Overview

The MG38CA-CL1 Cine Arm & 16x9 Cine Lock from 16x9 Inc. is a cinematic arm and lock mount. This equipment helps saves time and effort when setting up camera rigs.

MG Cine Arm 3/8"
This piece simultaneously locks all three joints. Any accessory mounts using a standard 1/4" screw for the top arm and 3/8" screw (bottom). The central kip lever accelerates the release of the three articulating joints. It also provides added strength and holding strength. The arm has been reinforced to be equally strong on both sides.

Cine Lock
This quick-release mounting plate works on all Noga articulating arms. Simply slide the dove-tail to the wedge and the unit locks securely in place. It mounts to all 1/4" - 20 and 3/8" threaded female threaded surfaces.

So much better than the cheap knockoffs.

Real Noga arms are so much better than the cheap knockoffs it ALMOST justifies the price. Saving grace is that it's a lifetime purchase so bite the bullet and spend the extra $ and then enjoy grumbling that it should be 30% less to win curmudgeon points on set. Quick release is a major convenience. Noga QR is easier than the 16*9 to get on and off but is SLIGHTLY less rigid when locked. Ability to QR monitor, mic or recorder is a huge convenience. Nicer aspect to 16*9 is it's easier to just leave the plate permanently attached to the device you mount.

Works well, especially the Cine Lock which makes attaching the monitor (in our case, a SmallHD AC7) a cinch. The only downside is it's a bit on the heavy side-- would carbon fiber or something lighter be possible on a product like this?
