The cover is waterproof, providing protection in inclement weather.

A LensCoat Lens Cover also provides a thermal barrier, protecting your hands from cold lenses in lower temperatures. It is easy to install and remove, leaving no residue on the lens. This cover will also help you preserve the resale value of the lens by protecting it from dust, dirt and other contaminants. The Realtree Advantage Max4 camouflage pattern offers maximum effectiveness in open terrain. The pattern incorporates cattails, millet, milo, corn stalks, sunflowers, oak and maple leaves, cedar and oak limbs, plus a variety of other plant life into the largest camouflage artwork on the market.

Please note that the LensCoat for the Canon 70-300 f/2.8 IS cannot cover the fixed portion of the lens barrel due to the manner in which the lens barrel extends/retracts leaving a small section exposed when the lens is fully extended.

Lens Cover for Canon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Lens (Realtree Max4) is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A must have for the Canon 70-300 f/4-5.6 Since this lens is not an L-series, and does not have the pro-level construction and materials, Having this lens cover for my lens gives me peace of mind in terms of protecting my equipment. Since I use this lens frequently for wildlife photography, I like having the camo to make this mid-sized lens less obvious to my subjects.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Try before you buy This has to be one of the greatest rip-offs in history. All this product consists of is a few thin strips that fit on various parts of a lens. When I bought this for my 70-200, it made it harder to rotate. But in any event, the profit margin on this item must be in the several hundred thousand percent. Instead of buying this, just go to an art supply store, find some material that is dark and buy a $5 swatch of it. Then buy scissors for another 2 dollars, and do it yourself in about 20 minutes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for extra padding I like it a lot. But, yes there is just one thing. I use Lowepro cases and my 70-300mm lens fits nicely in a #2 case. But with the lens cover I had to go to a #3 because when I slide the lens in the case with lens coat on, the neoprene wants to roll up and move out of place. I purchased this with the intention to leave it on the lens even in storage. Still I like the Lens Coat. I am going to try placing the lens in a plasic baggy as I place it in the case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great protective cover for my lens After I bought my new lens, I really needed this, seeing how hard photographing wildlife can be on your equipment. This cover went on easily, and does a great job protecting my lens. Once I figured out how to get the holes lined up exactly, I have no problems switching to manual focus, or turning the Image Stabilizer on or off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product almost fits This was a generic product that didn't exactly line up with the controls at the base of the lens. A lot of money for what it is

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice product I bought this to protect my camera during our rainy Pee Wee football season. It was easy to put on and looks like it will protect the lens. Perfect for our Washington weather.
