    Rode WS6 reviews

    WS6 Deluxe Windshield for the NTG2, NTG1, NTG4, and NTG4+ Microphones is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 80.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbeatable at This Price I worked for years in broadcast TV, and various forms of video production. For the price, this unit cannot be beat. It blocks out noise in all but the most windy conditions, and it's super easy to use. I should note that I've used many other units, and once tried a test on a blustery mountain pass. I used the NTG2 microphone bare (horrible results), The NTG2 with the foam windscreen (almost as horrible results), with the Rode Dead Cat over the foam (better results, not good for gusts) and this unit, which was a big step up. It blocked out all but the highest gusts. If you need a foolproof system, go to a full zeppelin system and don't look back. But if you're on a budget and need something that just works in nearly all conditions, this will do the trick. Plus the price is fantastic. The one con I have is that it's not the most durable unit, but with good care it will last you quite a while.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than foam! It keeps the wind out of recordings. Slides perfectly onto the Rode NTG-2. It is expensive but it really makes a difference in the quality of your recordings. It does a much better job compared to the standard foam windscreen which hardly does anything with winds over 3 MPH. BEWARE: It does have a big outer diameter. I use it mounted in a Sony EX1 and with the camera zoomed out it captures the dead-cat on the top right. After a few times taking it on and off the rubber end fell off. Just added a little more glue and have not have trouble with it. While it is not a blimp, this does a far better job than not having anything or using the foam one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Fuzzy Good all around fuzzy. Solid rubber skeleton. Not for use with existing shotgun foam windscreen. Good size for shorter shotguns.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product if used correctly This windshield is good value for the money and does a decent job in keeping wind noise away from the microphone. However it is important to see the direction of the wind and to make sure that the wind is not flowing into the head of the microphone (This is for a shotgun microphone which is very directional). If that is the case it will pick up enough noise to degrade the quality of your audio.I use this with my 70D & NTG 1.A wrap around design would have made this product a bit easy to use.Overall a good product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A good windshield, not perfect I do a lot of outdoor videography and got this Deluxe Windshield together with a NTG2 Rode microphone that I use as an external mic with a Panasonic Lumix GH-2. It does the job well if conditions aren't that windy, but as soon as the breeze gets fresh or strong this windscreen isn't enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good as the Rycotes for half the price I use this with my NTG2 for ENG use and on a boom for production work. Just did an interview the other day outside in 30mph winds for a news story and there was absolutely no wind noise in the audio. Rode's windshield is as good, if not better, than Rycote's but cost half the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Windfree No windnoise at all. One of the priciest of the windshields, but you'll only buy one and paying a little extra for something that you'll have for years is worth it. High quality, works, relatively easy to get on, I don't really have anything to complain about, fantastic product.
