The Hoodman HoodLoupe Professional LCD Screen Loupe is used to make a close inspection of the review image displayed on your digital SLR LCD display. The LCD Screen Loupe isolates the cameras LCD display from ambient light so you will not be distracted by glare or shadows. This makes it easier to view image details quickly to confirm focus to ensure that you have the best image possible. It will provide full coverage of an LCD display screen up to 3.0" diagonally with a standard (4:3) aspect ratio.

By employing Hoodman's optional Cinema Strap, the HoodLoupe can be used as a professional viewfinder for video-capable DSLR cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Aid for Digiscoping I mounted the HoodLoupe using a plate to hold it tight to the LCD of my P6000 while digiscoping. The diopter adjustment is outstanding, and the way it magnifies the screen and cuts down ambient light makes composing and shooting a breeze. I would not use this camera without the HoodLoupe. The only (minor) change I would like would be if I could lock the diopter at the setting for my own eye, but it takes only a second to readjust when it goes off focus from my stuffing it in the camera bag. btw, I mounted the Hoodloupe to a long plate by drilling 2 holes in the bottom. The plate has a long slotted opening that holds a tripod mount screw so that the plate can be screwed into the bottom of the P6000 camera. Works like a charm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific with my Leica DLux 4 While I purchased this product as an upgrade to my older Hoodman loupe for the new 3 screens on my D3/300, I really got excited using it with my new Leica Dlux 4. Since the Leica has no optical viewfinder built-in it is tough to work with in daylight. Leica sells a $350 single focal length viewfinder that is a great optic, but nowhere near as useful as the Hoodman loupe pressed against my eye and the back of the Leica. I also steadies the camera using it in this way, and I really enjoy the size and feel of this combination. Plus, as a viewfinder, the loupe is a bigger primary optic than the one on my Hasselblad....really sweet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great time saver and field editing tool Recent eye surgery in both eyes required the use of reading glasses every time I wanted to view the display on the back of my Olympus E-3. This was very clumsy and time consuming. I purchased the Hoodman HoodLoupe after reading about its adjustability and use in bright conditions. I am very pleased with my HoodLoupe. The lanyard makes it very easy to raise the loupe to my display and make quick checks on focus accuracy. It is superb at blockling light when shooting bright conditions and it allows me to quickly view and delete unwanted images in the field. This makes more room for quality images on my flash card and reduces time spent editing and preparing photos for upload to my online galleries.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for video It works best for video capture making it easier to focus especially in bright light situations. I also have used it to focus manually for landscapes and nature shots. With my telephotos the the margin for error on focus is slim and this really does help. I haven't tried it with macro but would work the same. I don't particularly like working through live view but I am getting used to it. To hold the loop in place, I use 2 elastic hair bands, one over the top of the flash area and one around the bottom of my tripod plate, both secured to the rubber ring of the hood. It is a rip off that they sell the holder separately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted The construction is good (rubberized plastic) and the adjustable eyepiece works good for me. I'm myopic but don't like to shoot with my glasses on. I have correction dialed into my 7D viewfinder but that doesn't handle the LCD screen, so an adjustable eyepiece is a must. I use it on the lanyard (not attached to the camera) so I can't comment on the accessories. This was recommended to me by a local pro (thx Martha!) and I'm glad I spent the $$. Here in sunny Arizona the LCD screen is almost impossible to see, even in open shade. Without the loupe I was always cupping my hands around the screen to check exposure. Focus was difficult to see. Using the loupe has made it a lot easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Helpful My normal workflow includes a transfer of photos to the iPad giving me the opportunity to see the results for the first time and to eliminate shots that are technically poor from my SD card (prior to archival). Needless to say, there are many poor shots (exposure not quite right, framing just missed). With the HoodLoupe, I had immediate feedback, even in daylight, to correct my most common errors and wound up eliminating technical inaccuracies that resulted in failed shots. The HoodLoupe, used in daylight, was as effective as my first view on the iPad. So, while it is another peripheral requiring management, the saved shots are well worth it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from German Glass...Really? I shoot outdoors 100% of the time, and am usually sitting in direct sunlight. Checking focus and exposure with any sort of certainty was a real problem. I putchased the HoodLoupe Pro to allow for better viewing of my camera's LCD screens outdoors. The HoodLoupe solves this dilemna quite well. I am a bit disappointed with the 'German glass used in the product. I don't know why, but you have to position your eye perfectly in order to get a non-distorted view of the image. If you are offf axis, it is kind of like sighting through the bottom of a German bier stein. Once your eye, the HoodLoupe anf the LCD screen are perfectly aligned, the resolution is excellent and allows for a thorough examination of the image on display. I just wish the German Glass didn't require such precise alingment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Work great for Canon 7D 3 I am happy with this unit. Price was about right and it does as described. As a photojournalist with much of the video I shoot is on the fly, one man show, this is a handy item to have in the bag. It folds pretty compact and keep the stray light for entering where the rubber meets the back of the camera. It does eliminate the use of the hot shoe, but with the low light cabibilities of the newer camera flash is rarely used. I bought an inexpensive attachment for the cold shoe on this unit and that actually expands the gear I can add on. Over all a good purchase, I will not use in for every shoot but it is great for rack type focus when there's time for more creative shooting.
