Konus Tornado 7x50 Reviews

Good size, optics, and value

Purchased these solely for use on our boat. Size fits our hands well and are they more compact than our larger more expensive Nikon binoculars, which doesn’t have an integrated compass. Optics are good and we think these are good value for the price; with a couple of small caveats. We both wear glasses and even with the eyecups retracted it is a bit of a challenge keeping your eyes in precisely the right place to avoid ‘kidney beaning’, when the boat is underway. Related to that, keeping the compass reading in the field of view with the target object requires a bit of care. Once you find that spot, compass is clear and easy to read. Would have preferred the night light for compass had been red instead of blue, but we’ll get used to it. A lesser complaint is the front lens caps are not a tight fit and often pop off when putting binoculars back in the case. We’ll probably end up removing them. Overall, we’re pleased with our purchase and would recommend, especially if you can use without glasses.

what do you to clean the rubberized grips they are stickey?? yes

Please test a small unobtrusive area first: Try using a 70% isopropyl alcohol solution to remove the stickiness Toluene available from most home improvement stores may work better to remove the stickiness, but it is very flammable. It's a lack of polymerizer that causes the problem,. Sometimes a badly-polymerized batch from China will just turn to goo on you, but for partial cases, some boaters use 'french chalk', the powder gymnasts and rock-climbers put on their hands.
