Koss PortaPro Overview

The PortaPro stereo headphones from Koss provide high-quality audio in a vintage design. Unchanged since 1984, the PortaPro offers a unique and recognizable look with performance to match. The headphones use rigid Mylar drivers to minimize distortion and provide accurate reproduction, while NdFeB magnet structures deliver strong volume levels. Oxygen-free copper voice coils improve signal transmission for clean, clear sound.

The adjustable headband conforms to virtually any head size, while the foam earpads provide comfort and also let you maintain awareness of your surroundings. The cable provides plenty of slack and has a standard 3.5mm mini plug for connecting to MP3 players, CD players, and much more.

Reliable, cheap, and easily moddable headphones

Picked these up to replace IEMs that were giving me a headache for daily work at my desk. Loved them out of the box, and I've since added third party Yaxi foam pads and replaced the cable with an MMCX port to add a microphone/volume adapter onto it for use with my work computer and phone. It's a really great set of headphones, doesn't have the claustrophobic in-head sound that my IEMs gave me or the flat sound my Sony MDR-V6s has, along with not making me into an anti-social headphone drone when I'm walking around the office. Worth every penny and worth having around in your collection for a nice lightweight set of headphones for walking around the city!

I have purchased this twice before. The volume on these headphones are always very good. Great sound separation. I can hear voices very clearly. The head part is made of metal instead of plastic so it lasts years instead of months. It doesn't include a mute or volume control on the headphone cord or headphone itself. I wish the cord was longer. But for the price and sound quality, all is forgiven. I would gladly buy again. B&H always handles my order quickly and correctly.

Given their impedance is 60 Ohms (most portable headphones have low impedance - less than 30 ohms), will they sound loud enough from a cell phone?

These headphones are extremely efficient and you will not have problems getting enough power out of them from standard PC headphone jacks, cel phones, etc. They sound great. It will be one of the best headphone purchases you've made under $100. The only thing is that the metal headband easily catches one's hair. So be careful when removing them! I have pulled hairs out!
