    Roland MOBILE CUBE Reviews

MOBILE CUBE Battery-Powered Stereo Amplifier is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Loud for Its Size! I bought this amp in my continual quest to lighten the weight of gear I must lug to a gig, as well as for outdoor busking. I used it last week to provide live background music at a dinner event for 75 people in a large high-ceilinged conference room. I mounted the amp on a mic stand. I was particularly pleased that I did not need to use a preamp between my Shure dynamic headset mic and the amp. In addition to the mic I also ran an acoustic guitar and a violin to the mono instrument input (via a Fishman Pocket Blender preamp to mix them). The sound was excellent, reaching the far side of the room easily (before it became packed with people), and attendees complimented us for it being an appropriate level. The built-in reverb added a nice touch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tiny Blaster Brilliant sound from such a little box! For the weight and size, it's hard to beat the decibels. Great sound device for an on-the-go DJ, parties, or use as just a iPod docking unit. Battery life is acceptable. But I would highly recommend getting some Ni-MH rechargeable AA batteries and charging them each time before use. Especially if you play your music loud. Otherwise, the power cord (sold separately) is a necessity. The only tiff I have with the unit is that you cannot adjust the sound settings for an AUX input. Not even the volume.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A sonic blast for a small size If you're thinking small, powerful and portable you'll be most impressed with this amp.The quality packed into such a compact size I found remarkable. I do not exaggerate when I say I spent hours looking over dozens of amps....the Roland Mobile Cube stands out as the leader in the pack.....I plug in my BC Rich electric and I'm telling ya.....this baby I can take it to the woods and get squirrels riled up instead of neighbors.....and it lasts for more than 12 hours on just AA's.....Sturdy and tough, a little thicker than a brick....I found the dials easy to use and read and the multiple capabilities of the Mobile Cube to be a very worthwhile investment......Looking over what's available...I'd highly recommend the Mobile Cube for anyone wanting impressive sound and easy portability.......D.R. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tough Little Workhorse I bought this to use for street performances. It works perfectly with my little lap harp. Makes it sound like a concert harp with the effects and stereo. It's a professional device, but it does not defy the laws of physics. You're not going to blast out the neighborhood with it. It would be nice if they included an 'audio out' port so two or more of them could be linked together like a PA.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from REALLY PRACTICAL FOR ME. Lets see if it lasts! I think this is a terrific little amp for many applications. I work mostly a chromatic harmonica player. If I have a gig in a small  size venue, and I want to travel light, this amp gives a clean, full sound. I can also make use of the stereo output to play along with BG tracks which sound best in Stereo.  It is loud enough for a jazz gig if the drummer is not too enthusiastic. I also use for playing in the street where the battery power is essential. I use rechargeable batteries which last several hours at least. Great for playing electric guitar with friends in a mostly acoustic setting.  if not cranked, the vocal sound is clear and useful.  Also great for practicing outdoors. I do have a caveat: I bought a different Mobile Cube (not from B&H) a couple of years ago, and the unit stopped working, I sent it back to Roland, they sent to back. It stopped working again. Isnt it back again... and then a THIRD time! Finally I gave up and bought a new one. Postage alone was costing more than a replacement! I KNOW that Roland gear is generally  quite dependable, so I suspect that this particular unit was flawed at some deep level. It is POSSIBLE be that the problem was caused by a faulty 9v DC adapter, so please use one you know is sound!  My history with the first one is why I give this 4 instead of 5 stars. The NEW version of the Mobile Cube is improved over the one I had. It has more features, including electric guitar sound options, and echo AND reverb, where previous models had either one or the other. I like the option. Hopefully the new imported version wont STOP WORKING!!!! Overall a very handy device that you can throw in a backpack and use anywhere. For a battery powered mini-amp, it is the best option out there IMO.
