The SwiftCam 2 from Swift is an eyepiece digital camera with a 1/3" C-mount female threaded mount. It is intended for use with any microscope which has an optical path that can be configured to either a C-mount or a T-ring for SLR cameras (the T-mount would then be configured to a C-mount by adding the Vixen #3763 adapter).
Also included is a focusable clear macro stand, so that you can use the SwiftCam 2 by itself without an attached microscope or C-mount lens.
In every case, the view of the SwiftCam 2 is output to a USB cable and observed on your computer via the included software package (which works with Mac and Windows computers).
This is a superb teaching tool, because the view of the sensor is continuously output live to the computer monitor-or in the classroom or presentation setting, to a projector's screen. The 1.3-megapixel resolution of the sensor is sufficient to provide an excellent image on large screens. In many cases the SwiftCam 2 is combined with an instructor's 'dual-view' microscope, which has a conventional viewing path as well as a secondary optical path for output to various photo adapters. As the instructors adjust the telescope's focus and specimen position, the classroom gets to observe along with them. Moving a geared stage to detail various portions of a specimen becomes second nature.
