LensCoat LC800 Overview

The forest green Lens Cover for the Canon 800mm f/5.6 IS Lens from LensCoat wraps the lens in a 100% closed-cell neoprene jacket, offering protection from bumps, jars and nicks. This coat allows you to blend in with your surroundings. It is useful for nature and outdoor photographers, as well as sports shooters and photojournalists. This classic forest green camouflage pattern is useful for when you are shooting in wooded areas.

The LensCoat Lens Cover provides a thermal barrier, protecting your hands from the cold lens surface in lower temperatures. It is easy to install and remove, leaving no residue on the lens. It is waterproof, providing protection to your lens in harsh conditions.

As of 12/7/11 the LensCoat for the Canon 800mm f/5.6 includes an optional piece for focus ring.

Clear, flexible UV-PVC windows cover the AF/IS/VR controls and the distance-scale window

Good for protecting my lens and making it less visible

It's a great product, but like others find the lack of included instructions frustrating. Thankfully this is relatively straightforward on an 800mm. I like it for protecting my lens from scratches and abrasions. I also like that it makes it less visible for wildlife (instead of the great big white lens). If you have the Canon trunk, adding the Lens Coat will increase the diameter and make it more difficult to fit in the trunk. I don't like the plastic window over the controls, as it makes using the controls that much more complicated. I am considering putting slits in it to access the controls or even cutting it out.

not worth the money - cannot use the lens filter

five pieces - only using two of them. Too hard to work the switches with the window, and the first piece does not have an opening to be able to get to the in- lens filter. I do not know if I was sent the wrong pieces, but I waited for over a month for something to show up that is only partially able to be used. Not worth the money
