The Varizoom RockDVX is a zoom controller for a wide range of Panasonic camcorders, including the HVX200, HMC150, HMC40, and AG-DVX100 (see Compatibility). The unit's pressure sensitive rocker allows for high-precision zoom operations that are easily duplicated from one instance to another.

Pressure Sensitive Rocker Switch
Unlike many camera controllers, the VZ-Rock-DVX comes equipped with a pressure sensitive rocker switch. This allows users to vary the rocker's speed, providing smooth, sustainable zoom adjustments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MUST HAVE for Panasonic/tripod owners! I use this zoom rocker for filming skateboarding on my Davis and Sanford fluid head tripod. Skateboard cinematogrpahy requirs a lot of zooming in and out, using one hand on the zoom on the camera, and one hand on the tripods stick, I could never unlock my tripods full potential. I can now use both sticks with my tripod and it is a world of differance. I should have bought this years ago, any sports videographer would be nuts without it. It has excellent sensitivity, it utilizes the amazing capabilities of zoom speed range the Panasonics poses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very useful I bought this for a new Panasonic HMC80 and it works well, making it much easier to manage the camera on a tripod. It has a good feel and a nice long cable and should be able to mount on almost any tripod. It seems sturdy and well made. A tiny quibble is that the dwell or neutral range is a little wider than I'd like -- in other words, you have to press the lever a bit farther than I'd expect before the zoom starts to move. There is a mechanical centering adjustment that may help with this, however, and it's something I will probably get used to fairly quickly in any case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Infinitely easier with this zoom-rocker! This is our 2nd RockDVX zoom rocker. We use these on the Panasonic HMC150 when recording staged theatrical events. It is so much more comfortable than using the camera's zoom rocker when recording long programs, and allows for smooth, controlled zooms while holding the tripod handle. These are well made zoom controllers and will easily stand the test of time. Our 1st zoom rocker (identical to this one) is 6 years old and still works perfectly. B&H was wonderful, as usual, and shipped the product the same business day. If you're considering a zoom rocker for Panasonic cameras, this is the one to get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional add on If you haven't used one of these and have thought about getting one! DO IT! I film allot of sports and this is simply amazing the change of how I do things. I would also recommend if you have a tripod that has the ability to have to pan handles to get an additional one! One for the control and the other for your hand...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Should of bought one earlier I bought this to go with my Panasonic AC130, and I wish I had bought it a few jobs earlier. It greatly helps my control my camera especially when I am panning the camera at the same time. I was surprised by the amount that you have to depress the rocker before it will react, a little too much for my taste. I would prefer a rocker that was more responsive or a way to adjust it. However for the price I can't complain too much. It is very nice to be able to duplicate the same zoom and camera movement over and over again for different takes, while keeping my hands on the pan bar. I have used this more often than I thought I would. I originally got it for live event IMAG and similar projects, now I find that it is worth using even for a simple interview or product video.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the one! i'm more professional with the VZRockDVX .Smoother starts/zooms with pans.Better overall/easier control with having your zoom control on the tripod heads pan handle. And you sould use 2 long Telescopic Pan Handles. WRH

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could be better This is an adequate product. Two things however I feel I should point out: The spring in the rocker feels a bit weak and sometimes barely returns it to detante position. Also the unit will not fit over the padding or plastic covering on the end of the tripod handle. Other than that, not bad. I am using a Panasonic AC130 so I don't have much choice. It will get the job done though and beats reaching over to the camera to zoom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Tool Used in wedding video production; easy to connect to Panasonic camera; use it on tripod harm and the cable length is adequate, probably a bit long for some users; great record/stop button removed from zoom control area which avoids accidental touching (it could be a bit bigger, receed more, and lit red when recording for a visual cue), rocker is slow to react and becomes responsive only past 35 degree angle, it will take getting used to; past models I used had a controller to regulate zoom speed this model doesn't offer that option. It would be great to be able to manually adjust sensitivity of the rocker, so the zoom was activated as soon as we pass a specified angle, I find the steep angle needed to activate the zoom difficult to use when you are simultaneously controling the harm of the tripod and trying to avoid unecessary movement, for that reason I give it 4 stars.
