Ortofon Omega Reviews

It will Play a Record

I used to think all Ortofon needles were the same, but in different colors. The Omega has proved me wrong. It is a nice needle and the cartridge can be upgraded later with all the other hi-end Ortofon needles, but the Omega needle is definitely a low end offering. It is not a bright as the others and the sound is more muffled, but it will do the job with an equalizer. Also, you will want to take some weight off the tone arm, because the ride height is very low. Still worth the money, and way better than some cheap copy; it is still a real Ortofon.

recording classical music

Wanted a softer sounding cartridge for archiving classical music. Had an old B&O turntable, back in the day, came with a ortofon cartridge standard sounded good with classical music. So for $31 give one a chance again, worked out fine. Nice full sound, can hear everything, without drilling my eyeballs out.

question

will this carage fit the Bang & Olusen RX2 ?
Asked by: Anonymous
I'm sorry but no this cartridge will not fit your B&O. B&O's used a unique proprietary plug in cartridge that are longer made. This was IMO the down fall of B&O turntables which were otherwise nice turntables with low mass arms (especially the cool linear trackers). If you can find a NOS one even one of the lower end models snatch it up but be prepare to pay a pretty penny.
