The Iogear GVE300 HDMI Over CAT5e/6 Cable Extender System uses inexpensive and common CAT5e (or CAT6) network cables to connect a signal sender and receiver over extended distances. It uses one CAT5e cable for TMDS, and an optional CAT5 cable for DDC/HDCP data, if required. Using this system allows for use of HDMI components over a longer range than usually possible with HDMI cables.
This system will carry a 1080p signal over a range of 100', or a 1080i signal over a range of 200'. Both the sender and receiver are self-powered in-line, and don't require any external power supplies. They are compact, lightweight, and use a durable metal shell to house the hardware.
