Fostex LR16 - Live Recording Mixer

The LR16 from Fostex is a live recording mixer consisting of a control unit, which is equipped with a 16:4:2 digital mixer, and a main unit which is equipped with a 16 track, hard drive recorder, along with input/output connectors. The two components can be used together or separated up to 50 meters apart using a single CAT-5 cable - no heavy and expensive multi-core snake required.

The easy-to-use system can serve as a Front of House (FOH) or on-stage mixer, and is ideal for schools, houses of worship, clubs, coffee houses, project studios, mobile recording and rental sound/recording - in fact in any situation where flexibility of use is important.

The 16-channel digital mixer features analog-style operation, 3-band EQ, 3 auxiliary sends and a single effects send, plus built-in master FX and recorder transport controls. The recorder houses 16 balanced microphone/line inputs, additional I/O, and provides up to 16 hours of uncompressed multi-track recording/playback, plus simultaneous stereo mix recording.

Although designed for the live recording environment, the LR16 can also find a place in the studio. Its built-in 80GB hard drive is FAT32 formatted, allowing it to be easily mounted on a PC or Mac via USB. The recorder can create individual track and stereo WAV files, and you can use a USB thumb drive to backup and transfer data.
