I wish they made more like this! The multi use could save money. Speaking of money, I noticed they were quite a bit less than others of comparable quality. I like the design also - strong yet pretty sturdy.

question
Will this fit the MB-D!& battery pack for Nikon D500?
No, it would not. The Acratech Arca-Type Quick Release Plate for Nikon D800, D300, Canon 5D MkIII & Bronica GS-1, B&H # ACQRPBGS1 MFR # 2167, would only fit the camera body only. At this time, Acratech states they do not have a plate designed for use with the Nikon MB-D17 battery grip for use with the Nikon D500.

question
This 2167 or a generic cork plate 2128? I have always loved my Slik cork plates as they bake into the rubber of the camera and don't slip, ever, but I am curious if this bare metal is some way special. Thanks!
I've used a generic (flat, cork top) plate in the past with no problem, but wanted something specific to the camera when I purchased a Canon DSLR (5D MKII, then 5D MKIII). The 2176 plate pictured here is well made and doesn't stick to the camera. The raised tabs, machined into the plate, face the front of the camera and do an excellent job of securing the plate to the camera once the bolt is tightened. I don't think there is anything special , except that the plate fits tightly from the onset, and doesn't need any time to wear in.

question
Is this one solid piece? Can I swivel the dovetail 90 degrees so that the camera is facing the direction of the slide? From the image, it looks like the camera would be perpendicular to the direction of slide.
Yes, it is one piece and, yes, the dovetail is perpendicular to the direction of travel. Not sure if ultimate strength or ease of manufacture was the reason, but in any event it hasn't proved an impediment in actual use.
