The ELCAN SpecterIR SP50B Thermal Weapon Sight features a completely passive thermal imaging system that allows operators to identify the heat signatures of individuals or objects. No external light source is required, and this scope may be used in complete darkness, daylight, fog, or smoke. Any heat-emitting objects such as humans and recently-operated vehicles stand out dramatically against their surroundings, defeating camouflage and other methods of visual concealment.

The SpecterIR features an ELCAN mount for rapid attachment to Picatinny rails and weapon receivers. Once sighted-in to a particular weapon, the SpecterIR may be interchanged with other ELCAN optical systems that have been zeroed for the same weapon in a matter of seconds. This shock and water-resistant sighting system will withstand the forces generated by repeated recoil from M240 and M249 machine guns. The electronic reticle provides quick and precise targeting of hostile threats by changing color to provide maximum contrast against the background.
