This sturdy adapter has a long thumb turn that makes it easy to connect and disconnect the binocular in the tight space typical of a roof prism. And once it's tight, it stays tight. Excellent accessory!

Height about 8cm, lightweight aluminum with a telescoping screw head. The screw threads protrude 5mm, but about 1mm of that is taken by a rubber gasket; I don't think more than three threads of the screw will actually enter the binocular. The base is 4mm thick with a smooth bottom (no rubber). The tapped hole has a slight relief (almost a counter-sink) which helps in starting the threads of whatever shoe you attach, but again only leaves about 3 threads of bite doing the work. The screw head design is useful: it allows hand tightening from the end using your fingertips on narrow, smaller binoculars which may not have enough spacing at the hinge for a knurled knob. It telescopes forward about 12mm, presumably for shorter fingers or longer binoculars. One minor annoyance is that when you un-telescope it, it doesn't stay. It just falls back out to its lengthened position which, in my case, is longer than the binocular. This is a light-weight, light-duty item. I would not recommend it for anything heavy or particularly valuable, but for my small 8x42 binoculars, it works well enough. That said, I bought this and another inexpensive brand and chose the other brand over this one for actual use.

Holds 10x50 Pentax binocular just fine, use permanently mounted to tripod quick release for easy change from camera to field glass, etc...

If you own a pair of Vanguard binoculars and you plan to observe something for more than 5-10 minutes, then this tripod adapter is a no brainer. Highly recommend and easy to install on your existing tripod. Money worth spent and highly recommend to Vanguard binocular users.

Does this work with Nikon Monarch 7 (8*30)? What's the width/length of the mounting plate at the bottom?

I have a Vanguard mount. Base is 1 3/8” x 1 1/4”. Height is 3 1/8”. The base has two screw holes that tripod plate can screw into. I would say it would fit any good quality binoculars that have a centre screw port on the bridge. Cheers

It is a standard size that fits all tripods - exactly like a fast-release camera mount for a tripod.Same as follows: The Manfrotto 200PL Quick Release Plate with 1/4 -20 Screw and 3/8 Bushing Adapter is the replacement quick release plate for all heads that use the RC2 (3157N) system. The plate comes with a 1/4 -20 camera screw and a 3/8 bushing adapter, and is compatible with 35mm and standard thread-mounted medium format cameras.RC2 Quick Release System
