OP/TECH USA 1101221 overview

  • 1Description

The Op/Tech USA Double Lens Mount Cap allows you to securely lock 2 lenses together. This is a huge space saver as it enables the photographer to keep gear protected in a compact fashion.

The Double Lens Mount Cap is designed with an o-ring seal which creates a positive contact with the full perimeter of the lens mount area to lock out dust and moisture. It also offers a tighter friction fit over traditional caps that come with the lens so that it provides better protection to the lens mount area. This ensures that the lens mount cap is securely held in place while in storage or transit.

Double Lens Mount Cap for Nikon Lenses is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatest accessory since sliced bread You pull out the lens you want to place onto the camera, hold the new lens in one hand while rotating the old lens off the body. Place the old lens onto the back of this double cap, rotate it on and rotate off the old lens with this cap attached. No more fumbling with two lenses and a rear cap. I saw a tip in a photo magazine where someone taped two rear caps together, and I used that method until finding this item. It is much more compact than two caps, and you don't have to worry about tape residue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You need thisi If you have primes you need this.I have recommended the OP/TECK Double Lens Cap to members of my family and I recommend it to the reader. I have two suggestions .I. The cap has been brilliantly designed for operation in the dark. Grasp a lens with the body mount at the finger tips. The OP/Tech cap has a built in ridge. This is where you rest your forefinger. Simply touch the camera's lens release with your fingertip. The lens locks on right there Once you have done this a couple of times, practice the process with your eyes closed. You will really appreciate this when you have to change your lens in a pre-dawn light. .II. Be sure to carry your camera's body cap. Keep the OP/Tech Double Lens Cap sealed shut with either your lens or with your body cap. Otherwise dust can gather in the open OP/Tech cap to then be transferred to the lens when you attach the OP/TECH cap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent way to protect your lenses This is the 3rd one of the double caps that I've bought. I use them to attach smaller lenses for protection in my bags. I've found that my lenses, when left loose in a bag, will become scratched and scuffed. I use these caps to eliminate that problem, and they work quite well. Now that I've picked up an Olympus PEN camera, I'll be using my classic manual focus Nikkors - which will be attached in a small bag. I won't worry about damage to the lenses while in the bag. The only thing I might suggest to Op/Tech is to place a white (or other color) marking on the caps to indicate the spot where the lenses fit into the caps. There is a raised area on the side of the caps that serves as an indicator, but a small touch of paint would be better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed and built product I converted my Leica mount lenses to Nikon after changing camera bodies. I bought some regular Nikon rear lense caps and they work well enough, but I was looking double rear lense caps. The Op/Tech product looked intriguing since it has an O ring seal, I decided to try it after reading other good reviews. After the caps came, I became sold on them since it saves camera bag space and keeps the dust out off my lesnes. I would like to buy the single lens caps for my longer lenses at the next opportunity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indispensible! If you travel and photograph with single focal length lenses, this little item makes a great deal of difference. You can carry one lens on on the camera, and two more, joined in a single unit in a belt pouch. After a little bit of practice, this arrangement will make lens change tolerably fast. Well made, a bit pricey for what it is, but oh, so useful! Tekko

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well made, handy Well made of good quality plastic, nice o-ring seals, notably more compact than two regular rear caps taped together. I use this to carry two small primes in my photo bags more easily. I'm not a fan of putting multiple lenses into one divided section just to let them bang around, so I taped two rear caps together. This cap however saves space and costs less than two good rear caps. Downsides: less versatile than taping because you can't just untape it to create two rear caps...this is a drawback when, for instance, I take off a huge lens to put on a tiny one that's on this cap. Now I'm stuck with either attaching the other small prime to the back of the huge lens or leaving something sans-cap. Also it's a bit tight fitting, but this is just because of the great seal provided by the o-ring. Not without its uses though; right now my bag has a 50mm 1.8afd and 20mm 3.5ai back to back packed in for low light/flare resistance when needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from What a great idea!! I came to know about this product whilst reading an article by a photographer on the internet. I have to say it works well and is a good idea executed.Great idea! I use it on my nikon manual prime lenses. They're considerably smaller than the modern AF prime lenses so using this cap i can save space and it makes it easier for me to swap lenses without having to put the bag down. Some suggested improvements could be, 1. Highlight the point where one should match up the lens. Right now it is just a ridge. Perhaps paint the point where one would join the lens either in White or Flourescent paint. This would save the trouble of putting the lens cap on and having to twist until you find the lens mount can insert and lock. 2. If you're only using it for 1 lens, the other end may collect dust - perhaps can include a rubber or plastic cap? Nonetheless, i will be ordering a couple more as my collection of manual nikon primes increase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works fine I bought one for the Nikon F-mount. Works fine, albeit a little tight. Could've been better had they put a white mark to align with your lens, otherwise it's a bit tricky to mount and you have to find the groove. Also quite pricey for being two lens caps pieced together. Does the job fine, but design could be better.
