JVC GZ-HD10 Overview

The JVC GZ-HD10 Everio High Definition Camcorder Kit 1 features a 40GB hard disk drive and recording to micro SDHC cards for over 16 hours of true 1920 x 1080 high definition recording. The 1/4.5" 1.84Mp CMOS chip along with the noise reducing features of the HD Gigabrid Duo Engine ensure crisp clean images every time you shoot. In addition, the AVCHD codec provides incredible image compression allowing for more video information to be stored to the camcorder's HDD.

Record still images to micro SD/SDHC cards or pull them directly from the hard disk drives video footage for HD still images with superior print quality. The rarely seen consumer camcorder features of microphone input and headphone output come on the GZ-HD10, along with an accessory shoe for mounting your external mics. The Shooting Assist Functions work together to help you create the best possible video every time you shoot while Power-Linked Operation intuitively saves battery life.

This kit includes the GZ-HD10 Everio HD Camcorder, a Tiffen 43mm UV filter, the Lowepro Edit 120 camera bag, the BN-VF823 Lithium-ion battery pack, a Sandisk 2GB microSD/TransFlash card and a 0.7x wide angle lens attachment.

1920 x 1080 Full High Definition Imaging
Capture your memories in true 1920 x 1080 HD. Each moment will be as beautiful as you remembered it thanks to the clarity high definition provides. When shooting in XP mode, your video is recorded at a high bit rate of 17Mbps, which enhances the image even further.
1920 x 1080/60P Output
1080/60P Output provides you with a smooth video output, free from "jaggy" lines. Because a 1080 scanning line image is output at a progressive 60fps when viewing your video on a TV that accepts 1080P input you'll see your footage in the full clarity and quality of 1920 x 1080 high definition.
CMOS Chip
JVC's 1/4.5" 1.84Mp CMOS provides stunning HD still and video images each and every time you shoot.
Hybrid Recording
Record to either the 40GB hard disk drive or to micro SD/SDHC cards for up to 33 hours of video storage. The convenience of the HDD and external flash memory storage means that you'll never have to worry about carrying around extra tapes or DVDs that take up extra space in your camera bag and you can shoot for hours without worrying about when to change your media.
microSD Card Still Image Capture
Capture still images as well as video footage with a micro SD/SDHC card. Still images record in either widescreen (16:9) 2432 x 1368 or standard (4:3) 1824 x 1368 resolution for beautiful stills each time you shoot.
Konica Minolta HD Lens
This lens created by Konica Minolta provides excellent HD performance and use with JVC's CMOS sensor and AVCHD recording codec.
HD Gigabrid Duo Engine
The HD Gigabrid Duo Engine utilizes a processing chip that features 7 noise reducing capabilities for cleaner images. The chip also houses the AVCHD codec.
Shooting Assist Functions
The GZ-HD10 features three distinct shooting assist functions for your convenience. Focus Assist outlines your subject to show which parts are in or out of focus. Zebra function places a striped black and white pattern over overexposed or blown-out areas of an image. And, Program AE provides effects that automatically enhance your images and take the guess work out of the scene for you. Portrait, Snow, Sports, Spotlight and Twilight are all features of Program AE.
Manual Controls
The manual controls of the GZ-HD10 enable you to be in control when automatic functions just aren't practical. This HD Everio camera features manual Focus, White Balance, Exposure Control, Sharpness Control, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority and Brightness Control, among others.
Power-Linked Operation
Power-Linked Operation saves your camcorder's battery life by automatically turning the camera off when the LCD screen is closed and turning the camera back on when the display is opened for immediate shooting.
Stick Control
JVC's stick control on the side of the LCD panel is comprised of four compass points that operate the menu selection and manual camera settings.
HD Best Shot Function
The HD Best Shot Function allows you to take high resolution still shots directly from your HD footage that can be printed out in all the beauty of a full high definition image.
Accessory Shoe
Use the cold accessory shoe to mount external microphones to the GZ-HD10. The device will be powered when plugged into the camera.
Microphone & Headphone Input
A rare feature in the consumer camcorder market, JVC gave the GZ-HD10 a microphone and headphone input for all those aspiring film-makers and home movie buffs who want to capture optimum sound and listen to their recordings in camera.
Data Battery
The JVC Data Battery when used with the GZ-HD10 allows you to check remaining battery life by percentage or time, ensuring that you never lose power in the middle of that once-in-a-lifetime shot again.
Quick Response
JVC has improved upon the time it takes for various functions to be up to full operating capacity, enabling you to shoot faster and preventing the loss of getting that never-again moment. Quick Recording starts up in 0.08 seconds, Quick Restart in 0.6 seconds (from standby mode) and Quick Review in 3.5 seconds (for reviewing your last recorded footage).
Built-In Auto Light
The built-in auto light turns itself on automatically in low light situations allowing you to capture stills and video even in a darker setting.
HDMI (V.1.3 with x.v.Color)
The camera's HDMI features V.1.3 with x.v. color that allows for more natural color reproduction when playing back your footage via this single cable connection.
