    Smith-Victor MP100 reviews

MP100 Aluminum Monopod is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from great for the price When I bought this, there were no reviews, so I took a chance. I've been very happy so far, and would recommend this monopod. I use this for my Nikon D90/Sigma 70-200f2.8 combo. It's plenty sturdy, the ball head locks tight, and the quick release plate has a safety lever that prevents accidental releases. It's tall enough to hold the camera at eye level with extension to spare for a 5'10'' person like me. It folds up small enough to strap on the side of a backpack camera bag. I like the clip locks on the legs vs. screw locks. I have to pull the legs out to extend them now, but hopefully they'll loosen up with use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent purchase! Very pleased Searching around for best bang for the buck in a monopod, and found the Smith-Victor MP100 that comes with its own detachable ball head, and adaptor screw to fit other accessories (like a SLR-Zoom Gorillapod). use it all the time at my children's sports games. Very easy to adjust. Is very sturdy, and the included ball head easily supports my 50D with a 70-300 zoom lens. My only reason for the 4 stars is because the clip for the ball head is proprietary, but you can purchase extra ones from Smith-Victor for 12$ + shipping. Now I have one on my Canon video camera, and my SLR

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the money This really is a great monopod for the money. The ballhead w/ quickrelease plate (all metal) is almost worth the price of the entire outfit. The one thing that gives me pause (and thus the 4 star rating rather than 5) is that the plastic clamps for locking the monopod leg as it extends/retracts seem rather cheap, and bound to fail - but they haven't yet. When/if they do, I'll pick up a Bogen, and use the head from the Smith-Victor. That said, when the clamps are locked down, this monopod is solid. One more note - there is no reference to additional/replacement quick release plates (neither on B&H nor the S-V website). Will most likely have to take it into the local photo store and try to find something that matches up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional features at affordable price I purchased this monopod primarily to use with my heavy Canon 100-400mm lens. The quick release plate, ball head, and the amount of weight it holds are what sold me on this particular monopod. It is well made and the clamps are not weak. I have used it several times while shooting birds and it has worked great. This monopod had all the features I was looking for at a price I could afford.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! I use this monopod for my video camcorder. I have the Canon XH-A1s, and this pod is sturdy enough to hold my camera with the shotgun mic, and on-camera light. It can compress pretty small for low shots or for storage purposes... But the great thing is that it can extend to a decent enough height... Being that I'm 6'3.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for first Monopod Unfortunately the monopod I received was defective. One of the legs did not come out unless the other leg locks were unlocked first. Besides that I find it pretty sturdy. I did not know it had a ball head until I received it. The locks could be better, but they seem cheap. Overall, pretty good for my first monopod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cheap monopod this monopod is cheap, in order to make it strong. i have to add bigger and longer all thread to the base of the ballhead. also added a screw into the base where the 1/4 all thread mount to to make it strong. after these mod the monopod is very sturdy and should be good for daily use. easy mod do do

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Monopod is awesome! I used this monopod in April 2011 at my daughter's 10K run and it really did come in handy with taking pictures of all the runners for over 4 hours. It is perfect for my height of 4'11 and also for my husband of 5'8. It is light weight and the quick release works fast.
