Tiffen 52ND6 overview

  • 1Description

The Tiffen 52mm ND 0.6 Filter is a solid ND filter with a 4x filter factor that provides a 2-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.6 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

0.6 neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.

52mm Neutral Density 0.6 Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what you expect Great for taking the occasional slow shot of anything with flowing water. Might also filter people from busy scenes if you prefer :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Depth I purchased this nd filter to use during sunny beach shoots with my nikon d300 and in the studio to cut the light from my strobes. It does exactly what I expect it to do with no problems whatsoever. I have read that the darkness of the filter makes it difficult to compose but I didnt notice that when I was shooting. I would definitely recommend this filter and plan to purchase another one for my 72mm lenses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As Expected I bought this primarily to lengthen my exposure times when shooting moving water. I haven't used it yet for that purpose, but if other uses are any indication, it will perform admirably in that regard. Thus far, I've used it to shoot sunsets. It blends colors to create a watercolor effect. Additionally, it allows me to shoot wide open with my f/1.8 to control my DOF in bright light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a neutral density filter! I bought this to use with a vintage manual rangefinder film camera so I could use a larger aperture on a sunny day. It seems to work. On an SLR/DSLR I would use a circular polarizer (already in my tool box) but metering on of those without TTL metering is a pain. . I'm not sure I can "love" a neutral density filter so I only gave it four stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VERY HAPPY RESULTS These are my first ND filters and within my budget. Taking pictures in Florida is a challenge with so much sun so having something quick and portable is a must. My only issue is a scratch as if it was used or handled while on a retail shelf before it was sent to me. I'm not going to spend shipping to replace a $10 filter so I'll live with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Satisfied I actually bought this as a present for my husband. He has only used it once, but it does the job that you would expect it to do. He said it works great! This is the first ND filter he has ever used. We look forward to using it more this summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice filter Perfect solution for family pictures when high-contrast scene is inevitable, such as at the beach. It allows me to use my telephoto at wider aperture, to further isolate the subject. The lower price made me choose this item, instead of the Hoya.
