Needing a backdrop that is 20' wide and 10' tall. Could I rotate this 90°, or is there a curtain rod guide built in to the 10' side? Wondering if I can put it on my own 20' core to hang and roll up sideways
This vinyl background is rolled onto a core so it cannot be placed on its side.

In the featured image, you can see the texture of the vinyl. How far does the subject need to be away so that it just looks completely smooth in the background? I understand this will vary based on things like f-stop etc.
Position your subject around 6' in front of the background

Does subject of photoshooting can be close to backdrop without shadows on pictures?
The shadows on the backdrop from the subject are caused by the Inverse Square Law, meaning as the distance from a light source increases, the intensity of light is equal to a value multiplied by 1/d2. simply put- the shadow will decrease if you move the light further away from the subject and backdrop.

question
How well does this matte black vinyl take a gridded light to create a vignette effect in a portrait? All the photos I've seen don't have it lit. Wondering if a light angled up at it would create too much of a shine or noticeable pattern due to the slight pattern in the vinyl.
This background could work well with a light that has a grid attached but as far what effect you will get, that all depends on which degree the grid has. With that being said, it would be best to experiment with different grids until the desired effect is obtained. While the background is textured to some extent, you may not notice that if you're shooting at a shallow depth of field.
