    Core SWX TL-50 reviews

TorchLED TL-50 Dimmable 5600K LED Light Fixture is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 72.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Solution Bought this light after I read a review of it in studentfilmmakers, and I couldn't be happier. It gave about 3.5hrs. of burn time at full intensity on a wedding shoot. I use it on my Panasonic HVX200 and my Canon XH-A1 to replace my 35w frezzi. Best part was NO CABLES to power it. I don't need my battery belt anymore! I love the power meter on the back to let me know how long the battery lasts, and it charges back up in about 2 hrs. It also comes with the filters so you get everything you need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Camera Light The Switronix TL-50 is the perfect video camera light in its price range. It's lightweight, even with the battery, round and small, but does not produce a spotty (flash light) look. It exhibits a nice, smooth, even light, either outdoors or indoors, fine for standard or widescreen shooting. It comes with snap on filters and the construction is much sturdier than other competitive camera lights. It won't light up a whole room (not meant to), but is the perfect fill in light. I use the NRG shoe mount with it, so I can tilt and pan slightly when necessary. It's a perfect combination (see below). ...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Banding Problems This seemed to be the same light that Doug Gordon is selling for a lot more $$$. I used it a couple of weeks ago at my meetup and was advised that it was banding for video. My assistant did some digging and apparantly it is a well know issue with the lights on the forums. The company says they are aware of the problem. I'm confused, isn't this a video light? The other problem is the caps do not... and I mean do not fit on easily. It takes attempt after attempt to fit them on. Very frustrating with a client watching. I also don't see the need for 3 separate strings to attach the caps, I put all three caps on one string. Would I recommend... NO

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horizontal banding due to PWM of LEDs Unfortunately I thought I had found a small robust, lighweight, led obie light without the green spike, low cri and PWM of other cheaper, inferior LED lights. This one is no exception. Has terrible banding issues that cannot be resolve by syncing one's shutter to 60/50hz or any harmonics to those frequencies. This light while well built is totally unacceptable in terms of light quality and electronics engineering. If you're still unsure please lookup on youtube and you will see a demonstration video of the Switronix TL-50 banding issue. I found it most prominent with CMOS based video cameras and have witnessed this problem while the light was on full output using my AF100. Great build design but cheap and garabage electronics and low cri LEDs ruin this light. If you value quality then look at litepanels and the lowel blender units - far better cri and no banding issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gadget for the money I an a big non-fan of on camera lights. But this and similar lights are now bright enough to work as key or fill using a tripod to mount them. Also for run and gun the dimmer makes it useful; but no on camera light is really good. I haven't done any measurements which I had planned; but so far the the over all color of the light is good although it is fairly green. It is 5600K though. It does put out quite a bit of light as mentioned above. Overall an excellent buy. A excellent little light for the money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from strange shadows+terrible color cast I never write reviews...well, I had to this time. I bought this little light bc Doug Gordon highly recommends it. The yellow filter which I wanted to use in indoor/tungsten situations creates a terrible green/yellow color cast that is impossible to correct. After using it for a few weeks I also started noticing parallel dark lines extending across the entire frame. Contacted manufacturer - no response. Don't buy it! There are cheaper much better LEDs out there!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well-built and entirely useful Will be used for event vids, and family gatherings, vacations, etc. The build quality is impressive, and the rotary dimmer switch is most welcome. Light runs cool and puts out adequate light for my purposes, which generally involve filling in shadows. Also, in extremely dark banquet halls, this lamp could save the day for wedding reception videos. The down side to me is the fact that the housing only has two 1/4-20 holes, one on top, and another on the bottom for mounting. A Bescor swivel shoe mount was included in the kit to handle this. Tightening wheel broke on first try.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pleasantly surprised! This light is great for wedding photography. I don't like the distraction of flashes going off everywhere, so I use it to dim in and out of first dances and other things like that. It's also a great fill light inside or outside. Rarely does it not get as bright as I would like, but all in all its worth the money!
