A PTZ camera may initially be higher in cost. But when operated strategically, it can be used in place of multiple fixed cameras, making it a cost saver in the long run.
The ACTi ACM-8511N comes loaded with a wealth of PTZ functions, all of which can be accessed from a PC over the network. It also has an arsenal of electronic controls at its disposal, ready to combat poor and challenging lighting conditions.
Motorized PTZ
Working from a remote Internet PC, you'll be able to access the camera's extensive PTZ functions in order to quickly point the camera in the direction you need to see. You can also activate the camera's 10x optical zoom function to get a closer look at objects of interest.
Excellent Low Light Performance
A number of internal functions come to life under poor or challenging lighting conditions. These include a color to B/W switching system (Day/Night), Sens-Up, BLC, White Balance and an auto iris feature.
Selectable MPEG-4/MJPEG Compression
In case you're worried about overloading your network, the camera gives you two different compression schemes so you can pick the right one for your application.
Built-In Microphone
With the addition of an external microphone and speaker, you'll be able to hear and speak with a person at the camera location over the network. This is a most useful feature in a variety of monitoring applications.
PoE (Power over Ethernet)
With the addition of a PoE injector, you will be able to power the camera via the same Ethernet cable used to communicate data to the camera. This will make it easy to install the camera near ceilings, in hallways, elevators, outdoors (with appropriate housing) and similar areas where running AC wiring can be a pain.
