    Quantum Instruments QF8 reviews

Qflash TRIO Flash for Nikon Cameras is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock Star portable flash photography!!! After using Nikon SB-900's for a long time and getting frustrated with them overheating, I decided to go with the QFlash Trio - best decision I ever made. It just keeps going and going... connect it to a Turbo 3 pack and you'll be shooting all day events like a champ with no concern that your flash will over heat at the crucial moment. I was concerned about carying the battery pack connected to the flash, but after using it for about 15 minutes had forgotten about the pack and kept working with no limitations and superb performance. If you are on the fence about this - JUST DO IT! - You get what you pay for and then some. Well done Quantum

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Qflash Trio for Nikon This is a much better flash than my old SB-800 that seems to compensate in such a much better way than the TTL on the SB-800. The price is definitely a factor and the weight of the Turbo battery really makes this only a monopod or tripod shooting gig. After attaching the Qflash Trio to my Nikon D300, the flash does not seem as stable as the way the SB-800 fits but it is secure, just a little play in movement. I was a little disappointed the flash shoe cord for the Trio does not work with the SB-800 (just another expense I was not planning for).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nikon i-TTL better than Nikon Easy setup for D3, D90, D3X, D2X and Trio recognized each other immediately. Display is clear and easy to read. First Quantum product I have ever owned and got it operational and taking great pictures without reading the manual in just a couple of minutes. Diffuser on the reflector gave even light distribution and allowed me to get very close to the subject with no blown highlights and great exposures. Colors seem to pop off the screen. Much more consistant TTL than Nikon SB800 or SB900. Those will now stay home when I am on assignment. Expensive, but worth every penny. I also bought a Quantum T5D-R and an FW7Q and again without reading the instructions got the two of them to do i-TTL exposures as well as manual and automatic. They recognized each other and work together to give great images. Turbo SC battery clips on belt and the Trio is lighter on the D3X than the SB800 or SB900.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive This unit looks good and is a solid performer so far however I haven't had eough time lately to do much besides test shots. It does appear very powerful with great recycle time and flexible with removable/interchangeable reflectors and flashtubes. This is my first Quatum so I can't speak to the radio sync but I'm looking forward to buying additional units to take advantage of this feature. Max ISO is only 1600 so TTL gets flakey on my D3 at higher settings; that caused confusion at first until I realized what was happening. It also doesn't appear to work to Nikon Matix for TTL (they suggest using center weighted only). My best results have been using the sensor on the Trio so far- this is outstanding, especially for outdoor fill. Also works 'off camera' with Nikon SB hotshoe extender cords.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Superb flash unit Used this product with a TurboSC battery to shoot a fashion show, and it performed like a champ. Light was adjustable, and colors were accurate despite the colored spotlights on the models and runway. If this system was a bit smaller and lighter, it would be perfect - but I will trade those qualities for the reliable quality of light it puts out. It's a flexible flash system that I bought to do location work, and I am very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only way to go for sure-fire flash Having survived numerous near-nervous-breakdowns at events when my SB900 shut itself off (even with an external power source), I bit the price bullet and bought the TRIO. Best move I ever made. If you're a pro and need to have full power, continuously (as in, as fast as the flash will recycle), for several hours with missing a shot, get a TRIO. It will never overheat, and the SB900 will -- with disappointing regularity, but only at the most critical points of your shoot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does as promised can't ask for better No more complex to set up and use than any decent pro-sumer flash. Enough power to feather the subject well. Great for portraits. I've used it outdoors with great success. Gets expensive though when one adds the battery and additional accessories. Bigger than the standard flash and that can be a problem as it can be knocked about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be with the big boys! I have owned speed lights for years. However, I have always thought that they were underpowered. Double A batteries were always a bummer for me in the beginning. After jumping to Q Flashes and Turbos I have always had the power and just dealt with weight and the battery. With the Trio you get the power and portability of a speed light. I love the look and reliability. Coupled with the Blade power pack you can't go wrong. I know the price is a bit expensive but you need to set yourself apart from every other shooter out there. My clients pay to have professional pictures why come to the job with the same equipment as their uncle. Make this purchase and you won't be disappointed. Welcome to the big boys (and girls)club.!
