The Canon 72mm UV Protector Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful! I've needed to purchase a filter for my Canon 28-135mm IS Lens for quite some time. I don't like leaving my lens exposed, so I always put a UV Protector Filter on the end. Not only does it protect the lens from scratches, dust, etc. (it's cheaper to replace a filter than it is to replace a lens!), but it makes the colors in my images pop more and they don't have that faded, washed out look that you can get without the UV Filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! B&W are expensive. I ordered the Canon filter to save a little money know that B&H would take it back if I wasn't happy. I did some tests shots with and without the filter on my Canon 15-85...indoors in low light and outdoors in high light and it doesn't seem to reduce sharpness at all. The effect on UV isn't very noticeable but most people, like myself, want this to protect the front element's glass.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Protects lens, but affects image quality I give this the lukewarm 3-stars; it's great for protecting my Canon lens from dust, scrapes, and such - but I've consistently noticed an appreciable difference (improvement) in image quality when I am not using the filter. Even so, I generally keep the filter (and the separately-purchased hood) on my walk around lens - especially when I'm traveling and transporting my gear (i.e., not using the lens). When I use the lens at home or in non-dusty, non-chaotic environments, I opt to remove this filter for the best image quality possible. My recommendation of this product is based on protecting the lens from dust and/or the inadvertent banging around of a lens from normal use; the filter is well constructed and firmly mounts on my Canon 28-135mm lens.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Canon filter arrived dirty Looking to replace a UV filter that has some scratches on it from three years of use. I thought I would try a Canon brand filter since I have Canon cameras and lenses. I was disappointed that the filter was cloudy and needed to be cleaned before it could be used.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lower quality from usual Canon filters I always buy Canon UV filters and they are usually immaculate upon receipt. This seemed to be a different quality. It was full of dust, smudges and fingerprints, was cloudy and seemed scratched around the thread. It also came in different (cheaper) packaging from the usual Canon filters I have previously purchased. It took me a good 15 minutes to get it clean. I have yet to test it outside but I'm hoping I don't have a faulty product. Rather disappointing as I want to use it on my new 135mm f/2 lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Protector Filter I got this for my 28-135mm lens. It does more protecting than it does UV filtering. You wont get the results like the picture advertises. But its a good quality protector, pretty heavy which is good! Not cheaply made!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nothing special, but does it's job well nothing special about this filter though it does a nice job limiting blue tones for daylight, landscape photos. good for everyday photography and keeping the lens free from dust, dirt, scratches, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens protector Used this on my sigma 17-70mm zoom. Works well as a general purpose filter/lens protector. I like the metal construction. It has no trouble gripping the lens cap.
