    TC Electronic Level Pilot reviews

Level Pilot Analog Stereo Volume Control is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Simple level control This is a cheap alternative for Mackie BigKnob and Presonus Monitor Station. It's not the best controller money can buy, but it does the trick if you don't need the extra features. I noticed that when the volume is low (7 o'clock), the left channel volume is lower than the right channel. It could be a problem on my unit, but at this price range, don't expect perfect linearity. Even with this issue, it still feels better than using the rotary encoder on my MOTU 8Pre. You will also need to buy 2 pairs of XLR balanced audio cables, check your interface output. I had to get a TRS/XLR pair for the output and then XLR/XLR to connect to the HS80m monitors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from TC Electronic Level Pilot I only needed a line level controller, not a lot of extra buttons & knobs, & this TC Level Pilot fills the bill. It operates smoothly & quietly, with a single control & balanced connectors for adjusting any 2-channel (stereo) signal. As others note, extra cables were needed for proper length & connections. I give this 4 stars, not 5, simply because I haven't had it long enough to determine it's durability. But, TC Electronic gear is well-made; I have a TC Finalizer Express that I've used for years with no problems. Lastly, B & H Photo has by far the best price on the TC Level Pilot. Thanks for a great deal on a needed piece of gear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Level Pilot Simplest pro accessory As a straightforward, dead simple level control between any pro (XLR) signal source and any pro (XLR) means of playback (power amp or powered speakers), the Level Pilot is probably unbeatable. The two stereo channels are ganged for control by the single knob, which works silently and smoothly. Level change is gradual, yet you can drop volume suddenly, if need be. It fits into any small travel bag or gear pocket and is quite durable. The cables permit the control knob to sit 6 ft/2m from where it connects very handy. High-quality adapters for inputs/outputs other than XLR-3 should not audibly degrade performance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product Perfect for anyone with powered monitors that don't have a means for volume control on their interface. Allows one to output full resolution from their interface and control volume in the analog domain. I own a Metric Halo 2882 and this item saves me from having to use the software monitor controller I use to use. One less window on my computer screen! Plus everyone loves a physical knob compared to messing around with a mouse. Simple to set up and use. Nice weight to the unit and smooth control. You are going to need cables to get to your monitors as the ones provided are way to short to make it there. A winner overall!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Awesome Works as advertised, does exactly what it's supposed to do, and does it well. Surprisingly high-quality, and I was pleasantly surprised I liked it more than expected. I use it between a USB audio interface to my computer and a pair of active monitors to control the volume of the audio interface's xlr outs because it shares a volume with the headphone jack. Already had xlr cables that I connected to the ones that come with the device (which are too short for my desktop studio). It is incredibly simple to connect, a good build quality, good cables, good weight, good size, good shape, easy operation, with quite sensitive incremental volume adjustment. Left and right are perfectly equal volume as each other. There is nothing that is not great about it. It is really awesome, and I'm glad I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Quality materials, works exactly as described. Allows instant volume changes; no more fumbling to reduce loud sources! Only nit would be that the cables connecting the monitors (after the breakout from the single cable going to the control) aren't long enough. Might be a bit pricey I suppose but well worth the money for the quality and convenience it provides IMO.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Product - 2 things to address This is a solid product and a piece of cake to install. Two things about it I'd change: 1) A low volumes, the left monitor will cut out first and then the right. I mix at a very low volume, so it's something that I'd like solved but it wasn't a deal breaker for me as far as buying this to try it out. 2) cables are too short to reach my monitors so I had to buy a pair. I knew about both of these issues before I bought this product because I saw it in a review from another user. I'm happy with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still great. After all these years, this is still a great passive monitor controller. It's got a nice big size for smooth rotary action but a smaller foot print than it's competitors. I use the Level Pilot between my MOTU Ultralite MK4 USB Audio Interface, and Genelec 8030a monitors. The MOTU has very small, fiddly knobs, with the main volume knob clickable back and forth for also controlling headphones, so this is an ideal partner for the MOTU. I can keep that fiddly little MOTU knob dedicated to headphones.
