Samson Q2U overview

  • 1Description

The black Samson Q2U Recording & Podcasting Pack includes a USB/XLR handheld dynamic microphone, a desktop tripod stand with extension tube, a mic clip, foam windscreen, USB cable, and an XLR mic cable. The Q2U Recording Pack is a cost-effective solution for the stage, rehearsal studios, and project recording applications. The microphone features both XLR and USB outputs that enable flexible digital recording to any Mac or Windows based computer workstation, while simultaneously connected to any analog mixer, preamplifier or PA system.

An on/off switch controls the signal at the XLR output, and its cardioid polar pattern eliminates noise and feedback at the off-axis sections of the capsule. The Q2U Recording & Podcasting Pack delivers clear audio quality with a wide frequency response and digital resolution up to 16-bit/48 kHz. The microphone is completely plug-and-play, and there are no drivers to load.

    Samson Q2U reviews

Q2U Recording & Podcasting Pack (Black) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Value for the Price I did a lot of shopping before choosing the Q2U, and could find no better value for the price. The mic sounds good, feels rugged and has a great feature set including an on/off switch, headphone jack and dual USB/XLR outputs. And to top things off, it comes with a set of headphones! My only complaint is that the mic does not seat tightly within the mic clip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Quality Mike, Fun with a PC At the price I paid toy-level was expected but this mike is the real deal. Nice, heavy, and nice little stand for desk top. It makes great voice recordings with the Cakewalk app included or even Audacity. Those headphones are nothing special but were pretty nice and keep background noise away from my ears.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Q2U Recording Pack This product has been the best microphone I have gotten with a low budget. The headphones are great and the stand is practical but useful. Overall It's really a product I would recommend for everyone that is a beginner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hey look, it works! I bought a Samson QU2 because I needed to record some I.D's for a local repeater. I didn't want to drag out mics, cable, mixer, headphones, etc. I saw the USB mic as a simple alternative. I just plugged the mic into an open USB port, (plug & play found it) and that was it. I had to change my input device on Sound Forge and adjust a few volumes - sensitivities, but that was it. No more flop sweat when trying to record small clips of audio. Easy-peasy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SAMSON Q2U microphone The microphone seems to work with all software I have tried with Windows 10, except Brainshark software. It appears to recognize the microphone, but when listening to the recording, it is blank. I have tried many different settings, but nothing seems to result in a saved recording. At this point, I do not know if the problem is the microphone, the DELL laptop, or Windows 10 or a combination of all three, so cannot give it the full 5 stars. As to the quality of the microphone and included accessories, the microphone seems to be of a very high quality, but the mic clip came without threads, so it will not attach to the threaded tripod. Samson has stepped right up and is sending me a replacement, so certainly no complaints with Samson warranty! Just for information, I am using the microphone through the USB cable, not the XLR cable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Money's Worth, Ear Discomfort I use this package (mic and headphone) to record vocals using Logic Express when I am on the road and at times at home with my kids to get them into singing (recording). The microphone is of a great quality and the sound quality via the headphone is also very clear. However, one of the downsides to the package is that the headphone is very uncomfortable. After less than a minute I wanted to get the headset off my head. I gave it to my 6 year old to listen to his game on his DSI and he started complaining that the headphones are hurting his ears. I took the headphone, lower the volume on his DSI thinking he was referring to the loudness but he was actually referring to the discomfort caused. All in all, the package is doing what I bought it for in the first place. Luckily, you can substitute any other headphones (3.5mm stereo male) with the QU2 microphone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Samson Q2U is simple and it works I needed a USB solution to recording audio tracks, especially when I'm traveling and have to turn a script quickly. The mic is a combination USB/A3F device. With its cardioid pattern, it rejects a fair amount of room noise. Works with just about every recording program I use. Headsets plug into the mic and provide adequate monitoring levels. I put this in my carry one and I'm never far away from being able to record.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Samson Q2U More the price the headset is worth it alone! I used the professionally for doing video interviews at a wedding. The Mic did a great job and the headset fit great and the sound quality was great. My only complaint was with the XLR connector on the microphone. I had a hard time plugging it into my video camera and unplugging it afterwards.
