Samson Go Mic overview

  • 1Description

The Go Mic USB Microphone from Samson is a compact, plug-and-play solution that requires no drivers and is completely Mac and Windows compatible. The Go Mic features a USB audio output and a 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone output. A folding clip allows for laptop screen mounting.

Switchable polar patterns provide cardioid and omnidirectional pick up patterns for added flexibility and control. A wide frequency response and 44.1 kHz / 16-bit resolution make the Go Mic a viable microphone for Podcasts, voice recognition software, music recording, general speech, etc.

The Go Mic is perfect for recording music, podcasts or field recording, but its range of functionality extends beyond typical USB microphones. Ideal for voice recognition software, iChat, web casting and even Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Go Mic is the ideal solution for recording on the go.
Because of its custom, compact design, the Go Mic can clip right onto your laptop or sit unobtrusively on your desk. Plug and play operation also means it's completely compatible with a Mac OS or Windows, with no drivers required.
High-quality components and meticulous engineering ensure the Go Mic offers remarkably clear, professional audio reproduction. Thanks to its switchable cardioid and omni-polar patterns, you can pick whichever pattern is more appropriate for your specific situation. Use the tightly focused cardioid pickup pattern when recording a podcast, acoustic guitar or vocals. Or use the omnidirectional pattern to capture the entire room, whether you're jamming with your band, webcasting with a group or conducting an online meeting with multiple members in a single location. Plus, with a frequency response of 20 Hz - 18 kHz and a resolution of 16-bit/44.1 kHz, you can be sure you're getting professional audio specs in a compact, multi-purpose design.
As the podcasting trend continues to grow, standards for audio quality and ease of use grow with it. Go Mic surpasses expectations for both needs with CD quality audio and the ability to record directly into your preferred software program. No matter whether you're a PC or Mac loyalist, Go Mic has you covered. And if you don't already have a recording program on your computer, Go Mic comes with Music Creator software, so you get everything you need to elevate the quality of your podcasts in one box. Go Mic can help you wow your listeners and set yourself apart in a crowded podcasting community.
If you're a frequent online communicator, Go Mic provides an easy, inexpensive solution to enhance the quality of your communication. Whether your preferred method of interaction is Skype, iChat or VoIP, Go Mic can introduce a level of clarity you didn't think was available. On the road for work? Make sure you can hear about your family's day like they're right there in the room with you. Online meeting with potential clients? Ensure every crucial word of your proposal is articulated with the in-person enthusiasm you're looking for. With Go Mic, you can make any online interaction clearer and more personal.
For multimedia enthusiasts, Go Mic brings impeccable quality to your voiceover work. If you're adding narration to a video, Go Mic can ensure your words create the impact you're looking for. There's no reason to lose the power of your voiceover due to poor audio quality. Make sure your audio sounds as good as your video looks with Go Mic.
Whether you're a singer/songwriter recording vocals and acoustic guitar, or a band looking to capture the room sound of a jam right on your computer, Go Mic will make sure you don't miss a note. Use the cardioid mode to capture vocals or close-mic an instrument. Or get the sound of a full band by flipping to omnidirectional mode, ensuring sound is recorded from all directions of the room. Whatever the application, Go Mic can help you take your music to the next level.

    Samson Go Mic reviews

Go Mic USB Microphone for Mac and PC Computers (Silver) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 85.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the GoMic! Have its big brother, the Samson G-track at home and it's serves me well, but was looking for a smaller travel-mic that isn't aweful for creating tutorials and talking to clients via skype etc. This does the job beautifully. It's really quite small, but the metal clip makes it heavier than I thought it'd be. That being said, at least it doesn't feel like it's cheaply made, though I do worry it may scratch the finish when clipped to my Macbook Air. But skype calls have been ultra-clear compared with the built-in iMac 27 or MBA mics and I've moved to making more and more business calls over Skype since I can easily record conversations and be hands-free with great audio quality. Great value, results and super-easy to setup and use. Love love love ....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Samson Go...Way to go! So the Samson Go Mic may not be an absolute pro mic... but for $39 bucks how can anyone complain!!?? Its very small, easy to use and works with the iPad (with the camera adapter kit). I only use the middle setting (-10db) with a fairly close proximity to my mouth. There is a bit of p popping if you don't use a pop filter but I just used a foam filter and it works fine. I am using it with BossJock for podcasting and get some really clean recordings. It seems fairly sturdy and has a strong clip. Love should buy it. Even if it just ends up as a skype desktop mic its great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for semi-professional voice-over recording We have two of these and use them extensively for voice-over recording on videos. The switch on the side provides three settings: direct, mid-range and all-around (about 270 degrees). We often record in mid-range and the quality is great. The only component that should be included is a pop-filter, but it does quite well on its own. It should be noted that this is not a full-professional grade gadget. It is significantly better than using, say, an iPhone's earphone mic set but not a studio quality microphone. With a non-echoing room however, you can get close to studio quality if you try hard enough (we have!). I like the size (relatively small), the semi-hard carrying case, solid build quality (it has a bit of weight to it) and all round high performance. Covering it with a thin sock add additional filtering.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really tiny! I guess I wasn't paying attention to the specs, but I was surprised by how small this guy is, photo attached. I'm using it for iPhone calls on my iMac (now with that feature in Yosemite), so the size is a plus--less desk space. The quality is better than with the built in mic, but not night and day better. I'd say 20% better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Dragon NaturallySpeaking I previously used a Logitech USB Desktop Microphone for my Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice recognition software and it worked very good. But the Samson Go Mic has superseded my expectations of it being a little better than the Logitech. Excellent microphone for the price. Go Mic is positioned approximately 14 inches in front of my mouth and 1 inch lower.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small Size, Big on Features I purchased this product for several reasons. 1. For use with Skype on my laptop. 2. For use with voice recognition software. 3. Small compact size. Easily transported. 4. Quality construction. 5. Recognized brand name. this product really fulfilled most of my desires. Basically, the only issue I have is perhaps that it didn't meet my expectation of high accuracy for use with voice recognition software. It works very well, however I had hoped to be able to achieve higher accuracy ratings than it seems to provide based on reviews of other microphones by the same manufacturer. The construction is solid -- much better than the flimsy plastic microphone which I easily broke. It is easy to use. It works great with Skype. And it doesn't take up a lot of space in my briefcase. All in all, I would definitely buy again and would recommend it to other people.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value Use the product for interviews, voice recording to import in other projects. Totally satisfied with the value and my purchase. Love the size, it's not cumbersome, very portable. It's stylish & professional looking. This may or may not be important for others but I love the package it came in. Very useful carrying case that can be used for other accessories. The only negative is you can't adjust the swivel height to extend the mic. Worked with Garage band, couldn't get it to work with Audacity?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Use - Eliminates Noise I am using this microphone instead of the built-in laptop microphone or basic inexpensive analog voice microphones I had been using previously with my computer recordings. I like that I can simply plug the GoMic into the usb of various assorted computers I use and simply get a clean sound. With the laptop the fan noise is eliminated and with my older computer the hum from the analog input is eliminated.
