The Acratech Ultimate Ballhead is the result of innovative efficient design, created for combining low mass with incredible stopping power. Available with or without an installed Arca-type quick release clamp, it is an ideal head for those that do not require a progressive tension control.

The innovative design of the Acratech gives the photographer full access to 25% of a sphere at any time, and it is entirely capable of providing support in any direction so long as the tripod legs are not overwhelmed.

A quick release plate is not included, and Acratech offers a range of camera-specific plates, as well as a generic plate. Or can be used with any "Arca-Swiss type" plate, available from Arca-Swiss, Foba, NPC, Novoflex & Wimberley.

This version of the V2 includes a built-in spirit level aiding in tripod and camera alignment.

Note: Quick release plate not included.

Ultimate Ballhead is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, stable and well made This lightweight ballhead is precision engineered, and very stable for most uses, except the longest and heaviest telephoto lenses. The open construction is brilliant, the ball is easy to clean if it should be contaminated with sand or dirt. An excellent head for travel and hiking. The rubber knobs ensures a good grip on the controls.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Acratech 1126 Using to support medium format, 4x5, and 35mm film cameras. After about 16 years of using the same ball head, I needed a replacement and wound-up choosing this one. This has an unusual design, which is very strong / sturdy. I've only been using it for about a week+, and noticed these points right away:1) Very strong and I feel like I could load any reasonable amount of weight on it. 2) The main knob does not need to be tightened a lot when compared to my old ball head. Just a light amount of pressure is enough.3) The swing of the ball head is limited to about half of what most ball heads are capable of. In order to get the full range you are used to, you need to use the extra axis knob near the bottom of the head.4) I got this 1126 version that has a bubble level on the quick release. If you can see the demo video please watch that. I am still getting used to the ball head and like it a lot. I was able to watch the demo video before purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It sucks The ball-socket pivot only really locks down if you crank it incredibly hard. I had a lot of hope, but after trying to stabilize a Canon 5D mk II and a 16-35mm lens, my hand seriously hurts. Shooting vertically basically requires you to support the camera. A tripod head that needs me to hold it with my hand while shooting isn't worth $30, let alone over $300. The rest of it is great except for its main function.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ballhead I bought this after a teacher recommended it. It does a great job. I use a Canon 6D and the heaviest lens I've used on it was the Canon 100-400 telephoto zoom. It handled it no problem. I use it on a tripod and monopod. The knobs are easy to adjust and the ball head works smoothly. It doesn't move when tightened. Highly recommended.
