The Tiffen 52mm Skylight 1-A Filter is a general use filter with a slight pink tint to help improve overall color accuracy and clarity. The light pink coloration helps to reduce the overall bluish cast of daylight and is especially effective when photographing landscapes and in shade.

The Sky 1A filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Helps to improve general color accuracy and clarity when photographing outdoors in daylight and shade.
Light pink tint reduces bluish cast of natural light.
General protection filter reduces dust, moisture, and scratches from reaching lens elements.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Prophylactic I always manage to smudge (or yikes, scratch!) my lenses... I use this as a simple lens protector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from B&H CUSTOMER SERVICE ROCKS! Everyone has a bad day, and Tiffen is no different. I ordered this filter and it came in with a line in it as though the filter material between the glass were creased. I dropped B&H a note to ask what I needed to do, and they shot me out a new one no questions asked! Didn't even have to hassle with sending the old one back! I'm sticking with Tiffen and B&H!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great low cost filter The 1st one I received, had an imperfection on the side of the glass. B an H was so good, and quick to replace me with another one, promptly. It can happen with thousands being made, thanks to B and H with their great customer service, they replaced it right away. The 2nd was fine and have no issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice filter I mainly use this filter as a protective layer for my lens, but I decided to get something different from the standard UV glass filter. Seems to work well, although with post processing using software, most filter effects are no longer needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap insurance policy for my lenses! I have this on my Nikon 35/1.8 lens. Serves a basic but important function. I also like that it's made in the USA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lens protection Great filter to use for protecting the front element of your lenses. I normally use a polarizing filter for most of my shooting but when conditions warrant, this is the filter I use instead. I have been very happy with my results using the Tiffen line of filters. They are well-made, offer good effects, value for your dollar and are made in USA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice Filter I take a lot of pictures by the beach. It is nice to have a filter that reduces the grey/blue of the water and makes everything more vibrant and true to color. My camera at first had a hard time focusing with the filter on, but then I realized I had smugged ocean spray on the lense. Once I cleaned it, it worked fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Protection at a Small Price I recently had to replace my UV filter on my digital camera. Going for the cheapest one, I found this filter. While examining it, it feels like it is actually better than the old one. I have not found anything wrong with this company or their filters.
