MyStudio MS32 Overview

Designed for self-employed photographers who work on the go, the MS32 Tabletop Photo Studio Kit with Fluorescent Lighting from MyStudio gives you the tools you need to create great images on a budget. Included with this kit is a 32 x 32 x 16" cyclorama background, an aluminum stand, two 5000K daylight-balanced fluorescent lights complete with overhead reflectors, and two 16 x 20" bounce cards.

Say goodbye to wrinkled seamless paper or time-intensive post-production retouching. Instead, your product seems to float in infinity on a clean, white piece of durable, washable ABS plastic. The overhead light sources are color-balanced, digital-friendly 5000K fixtures on an adjustable stand, which wraps light around your objects and can be further directed with the supplied bounce cards.

MyStudio solves the field-of-view problems evident in photo tents when the edges of the background appear in your image. Whether you're shooting coins, jewelry, cosmetics, objects d'art, electronics, car parts, or handbags, there's a MyStudio Tabletop Cyc Kit to fit your needs.

The MyStudio 32 offers an expanded 90° corner module. The 16" height provides additional headroom for taller objects. This product is 120 VAC for use in North America and other areas that use this voltage.

Shooting area is 32" wide when expanded with additional lamp/bulb combo.
5000K daylight color-balanced, digital-friendly fluorescent lamps.
Lamps generate very little heat resulting in a comfortable working environment, especially important in small spaces.
Minimal shadows yield fine detail. Soft disappearing horizon line puts emphasis on your subject.
Adjustable stand height to accommodate the size of your object.
Reflector cards direct light where you want it to create pleasing catch-light reflections, definition and "modeling" on your subject.
Module can be turned on its 32" side for taller objects.

MyStudio MS32 Reviews

On/off Cord didn't work right out of the box.

The on/off cord didn't work right out of the box. They want me to send back the whole unit. I just need a new extension cord with an on/off slip. What a pain?

Really liked the videos that were available for the MyStudio products. The various setups and resulting shots made it easier to determine which product Id be happy with. The MS32 was the size I thought Id be happiest with for the price, but I also knew I needed the AL1-2 accessory lights, which I did order at the same time. Without the accessory lights, photos do tend to look flatter. And, so far, am getting good shots with minimal experience, so am very happy with it. Got a half sheet of plywood to put on a smaller table and to clamp the unit to. Had to turn the unit diagonal to fit. Should have gotten a longer piece. Cant wait to keep experimenting with it.

Exactly what I was looking for.....

The size is perfect for my needs, just be aware that the versatility gained by the increased size of the MS32 may create storage issues for some. Not an issue for me since I have dedicated space and don’t envision breaking it down for storage. The light-stand legs have some sway, which was mostly eliminated by placing something heavy over the feet (a partial bag of lead shot on each foot was perfect). I would have preferred that the light reflector was one-piece instead of two (joined by tape), but I assume that was to accommodate shipping. Certainly not a deal breaker. I have only used it a day but can already tell that it’s one of those products that I should have purchased a number of years ago.

I will openly admit I am an amateur when it comes to photography. But with the help from this Tabletop Kit you would have a tough time knowing that. Great Product for all!

Really good, but not great

This set up makes setting up shoots really quick and easy. The few knocks that I do have are not deal breakers though. I found that the adhesive on the reflector stands isnt very strong and they come apart often. The legs arent very stable, so you need to stick something through the hole keep them from falling down. I also didnt like that I had to adhere the stands myself. It would be nice to have a way to dissipate the light as well. I find that there are some shiny objects that reflect the bulbs perfectly. The tabs on the plastic casing that covers the bulbs is very flimsy and they break off incredibly easily. All in all, a great product.

This setup is a must have for any product photographer. As long as you have space to store it, it's perfect.

Lighting Fixtures Not Worth It

The actual mini-cyclorama is good and useful. The fact that you can set it on a table makes it easy to use. The lighting, stands, reflectors, etc. that comes with aren't made for professional-looking product photography. It's wobbly and hard to put together nicely (never succeeded actually). Save yourself a headache a invest in a nice, standalone, lighting system to add to the cyclorama.
