Can this stand be used to support light fixtures or just frames?

The Avenger Overhead Steel Stand 65 with 2 Leveling Legs (Chrome-plated, 21') can work for lights or frames. The top is 1 1/8" female. So, you need a light that has a 1/1/8 stud (jr). Or you use an adapter like this for lights that have a 5/8" receiver, https://bhpho.to/49psHhE.

No, the grip head on the Avenger Overhead Steel Stand 65 with 2 Leveling Legs (Chrome-plated, 21') is built in. And not designed to be removed.
