If you need it, you need it. Painfully expensive for what they are, but the only issue I've ever had with these plates is losing them.

Bought a Sachtler DV2 II Tripod without the qr plate, glad it wasn't hard to source one out. Quality is exactly what you'd expect from a company like Sachtler. I wish it wasn't as pricey but you do get what you pay for. Top notch!
