Leupold 4.5-14x40 VX-3 Riflescope (Matte Black)
Key Features
 • 1.0" Tube
 • Waterproof
 • Fogproof
 • Boone & Crockett Reticle
Leupold keeps their successful tradition of delivering state-of-the-art sport optics alive with their persistent attention to detail, precision and quality - they pioneered the process of waterproofing optics via nitrogen purging in 1947. Since then and to this day, Leupold continues to push the envelope while producing some of the world's finest sport optics and accessories.

Leupold's VX-3 riflescopes offer a world-class set of features: an Xtended Twilight lens system with DiamondCoat 2 coatings, blackened lens edges, second generation waterproofing, a dual spring erector system, and cryogenically treated precision adjustments. Additionally, every VX-3 sports a special 24k gold-plated ring and medallion.

When your need to cross over into higher magnification levels becomes a reality, the VX-3 4.5-14x40 rises to the occasion; its high-performance optics and features makes short work of longer distances.

Keeping the magnification on the lower side of the scale enables you to hit closer and ensures the brightest sight picture. Dialing up to 14x not only increases the size of your target, it also limits the sight picture's depth-of-field - this combination effect lays the ground-work for successful long-distance shot-placement.

This particular VX-3 4.5-14x40 is configured with a 1.0" main tube, and a Boone & Crockett Big Game reticle.

To use a riflescope with your firearm, you'll need a mounting base and mounting rings in addition to the scope itself. Bases attach to your firearm and the rings attach your scope to the base. Proper spacing of the rings, as well as the ring height should be considered to ensure a proper line of sight can be established. This will maximize the value of your investment, and enhance your shooting experience. It should be noted that in many mounting applications, a professional gunsmith's skills will be needed for proper installation.

1.0" Main-Tube
Traditional lightweight 1.0" main-tube keeps a low-profile
Precision Adjustments
Cryogenically treated 1/4 MOA windage and elevation correction with resettable pointer dials
Tactile Power Indicator
Integral range estimation function with graphite O-rings for smooth operation
DiamondCoat 2 Technology
Proprietary coatings on exterior lens surfaces provides superior abrasion resistance while increasing light transmission
Dual Spring Erector System
This dual spring configuration exerts up to 30% more force upon the erector assembly to virtually eliminate backlash and stress on the internal mechanical mechanism. The result is enhanced tracking & repeatability as well as a greater lifespan for all of the internal moving parts of your scope.
Extreme Fast Focus Eyepiece
Locking rapid-focus ocular with internal threads - with Alumina eyepiece guard
Xtended Twilight (XT) Lens System
Wavelength-specific multicoatings and blackened lens edges optimize light transmission for enhanced definition and luminance during twilight
Second Generation Waterproofing
Leupold's proprietary blend of argon & krypton gasses delivers greater resistance to thermal shock than standard nitrogen purging. This technology offers a longer-term water and fogproofing solution as these gasses exhibit a lower incidence of diffusion for a lifetime of crystal clear viewing under all conditions.
Boone & Crockett Reticle in the Second Focal Plane
Leupold worked closely with the Boone and Crockett Club to create a reticle that will enhance your long range shooting skill by providing precise aiming points for easy-to-remember range increments & wind deflection. A Duplex style aiming point (traditionally sighted in to 200 yd) and additional hold points for 300, 400, 450, & 500 yd offer superior long-range capability. Windage hold points (for 10 mph winds) are located on the 300 & 400 yd hold over points.
This reticle is positioned in the rear or second focal plane; it does not change dimensions when the scope's magnification is dialed up or down.
