I've been using these for years and they work very well. If using the camera's sensor cleaning function doesn't work, I move on to using these. They don't harm the sensor and are quite good at picking up persistent particles.

How does it collect the dirt?How do you keep it clean itself when it collects dirt?How long should it last?

Soft pad on tip holds debris. I clean the tip by gently brushing tip against soft tissue. Don't know how long it should last. I've had mine about fourteen months. Seems destine to last awhile.

I have used the pen several times with out any problems. Keeping the tip covered is very good advice.
