The Tiffen 82mm Ultra Contrast 1 Filter can be applied to purposely reduce contrast while photographing an image or while recording video. By distributing ambient illumination to darker areas within a scene, this filter is useful in helping to uniformly balance the tonal range among highlights and shadows. Detail is increased within shadow regions while flare and halation around highlights is purposely limited.

Can this be use in combination with the Tiffen Digital Diffusion FX?
Being that this filter has front threads measuring 82mm, you can stack a Tiffen Digital Diffusion FX Filter on top. However, vignetting may occur if the lens has a wide angle focal length.

How do I decide what strength to use? Is it based on the contrast ratio? The total amount of sun? The kind of camera? Which one should I pick?
