Tiffen UV Haze 1 Filter Overview

The Tiffen 105mm Coarse Thread UV Haze 1 Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Good protection, warm color

Nice quality Haze filter at a decent price. It's nice to have as protection for the lens and offers a slight degree of warmth to images, something I generally prefer. And the fact that it is as thin as it is keeps it from vignetting wide angle shots. Only issue I have is that the lens cap doesn't stay on as securely as I would like. It doesn't fall off often, but because it is a wide angle filter it doesn't have threading on the front to more securely attach the lens cap.

Fits early Hasselblad SWC w/ Compur shutter

Users of the early model Hasselblad SWC with Syncro Compur shutter are familiar with how difficult it is to find Series VIII filters, and the Series VIII retaining ring required to mount them to the 38mm/4.5 Biogon lens. The use of 67mm filters is NOT recommended, as they have a slightly smaller thread size and different thread pitch. While they might thread on for half a turn, they will eventually bugger up the lens threads on your irreplaceable SWC. There are, however, some manufactures of 67mm filters that do fit perfectly — these are rare and the only way find one is by careful trial and error. The Tiffen 67mm filter is one of them! After determining it screwed on smoothly with no damage I took a chance and purchased the same type of 67mm Tiffen filter in medium-yellow and a four-stop ND filter, all of which fit perfectly. For some reason, the 67mm Tiffen thin-mount wide-angle filter will NOT fit. Unless all three of my filters are oddities or Tiffen modifies the size, I expect they will fit your SWC too. If not, B&H has a great return policy!

The UV Haze 1 is designed to eliminate Haze, both are general protection filters.

Yes, this filter is threaded on the front and back. You may stack filters, however when stacking filters you may experience vignetting when shooting at wide focal lengths.
