2-Port USB 2.0 Printer Auto Sharing Switch is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simplicity and value go great together! USB cable in from a G4 Mac. USB cable in from Windows XP PC (Both cables supplied) USB Cable into Epson R210 inkjet printer. Switch is powered by USB bus. Load small PC Driver, Download Mac one from IO Gear. Set the same preferred printer in each driver. Bingo! Switches computers automatically for each print job without delay. LED lights for the computer currently printing. Most excellent and simplicity itself to install and it works as expected first time!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well--does the job I am using the 2-Port USB 2.0 Printer Auto Sharing Switch by Iogear to hook a desktop and laptop computer to a single HP All-in-one printer. The laptop runs Windows XP and the desktop, Windows 7. It has been difficult to network these two computers with success being iffy and intermitent. The switch always works and was easy to install. Perhaps because of the two different operating systems, the XP laptop gives an audible alert sound when the desktop computer is printing and on occassion, the Windows 7 machine puts up a message saying the printer is not connected when it really is. We have learned to ignore the sqwaking, complaining computers and just let the printer and switch do its work!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product Works Well I use the product to share a single printer between two computers (one a PC and the other a Mac). The product works as advertised and automatically switches to accommodate printing requests.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Print transparently, effectively I needed to share a single Canon PIXMA IP4700 between two computers. I had first tried a manual two-way KVM, but was less than pleased. Hooked up the automatic--the key word--Iogear printer sharing switch with the included USB cables. Software installation was easy. With the Iogear switch in place, my need for the printer at one or the other of the two PC's is a transparent operation. Just give a print command from either system, and everything works flawlessly. Couldn't be more pleased. Thank you Iogear, and thank you B&H for offering this item

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Work well with vista but not win7 This printer auto share work well with windows vista but not windows 7. When I connect it to two vista PC, it work great. However with one PC on win7 and the other running on vista, only the vista work. win7 doesn't seem to recognize it and would not print. Anyway, I still got a very great deal from B&H Photo, $ with free shipping. Best deal I could find on the net!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy Setup for the Not-So-Auto Switch The setup is easy...plug in the 3 USB cables (1 for the printer and 2 for the computers) and install the drivers on each computer. Unfortunately, the switch isn't all that automatic. At times, I can just click print and it will go but a good amount of the time, I have to manually switch the printer software. While it isn't a huge issue (Software Settings > Switch), it isn't really automatic. Nonetheless, still a better option than most and I still recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what the doctor ordered ... We live in a divided (PC-Mac) family. I have a great PC home office with 2 machines networked to share my peripherals (printer, scanner, DVD writer, etc.) Wife has a Mac (yecch!) But wife needs to print and isn't the most computer savvy. (On the other hand, wife is a nurse and I faint at the sight of blood.)She used to e-mail me files so I could print them for her. With the Iogear 2-port automatic switch, I could set up a printer cable just for her own use. Family at Peace!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Glitchy on my multi-function printer On the company website the description of the GUB211 is this: IOGEAR's USB 2.0 Printer Auto Sharing Switch enables two PCs and/ or Macs to easily share* one USB printer, multi-function printer, or USB device. No more plugging and unplugging between your computers. Simply send the print job and the switch automatically makes the swap for you. The product did not deliver the advertised functions for me. It was glitchy (intermittent malfunctions) hooked to my Canon MP610 multi-function printer (MFP) and Tech Support at Iogear, although courteous, couldn't solve the problem. And this will apply to every user: the so-called automatic switching is not automatic because it requires manually choosing a setting from a popup menu each time the alternate computer wants to print. That ain't automatic. (2 iMac dual core Intel computers, OS 10.6.8, Canon MP610 printer)
