Sony ECM-V1 Overview

The black Sony ECM-V1BMP is an omnidirectional lavalier microphone with a locking 3.5mm connector wired specifically for use with selected Sony bodypack transmitters, including the UWP series.

The microphone features an omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° radius around the mic capsule, helping to deliver consistent levels, even if the talent turns away from the capsule. The electret condenser capsule is optimized to run on 5 VDC, but will function with a 1.1 to 10 VDC power source. 

The ECM-V1BMP offers a wide 40 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and features 2.3mm diameter cable with a 3.9' length. A lapel clip to attach the mic to clothing and a windscreen to reduce wind and breath noise are both included.

This replacement works perfectly, and as a bonus the newer technology sounds better and the diameter of the microphone is about half the size of the original. The smaller size allows more options as regards attaching to the speaker's clothing. B&H really came through quickly for us, since this kind of gear always quits at the worst possible time. We bought 2, so now we have a back-up.

I've been using one of these for the past 3 years for everything from interviews to vocals for a performer with poor traditional mic discipline. Outstanding mic for working in environments with high ambient sound levels.

The Sony ECM-V1BMP Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Locking Sony 3.5mm Connector (Black) is not compatible with the DJI Mic 2 transmitter. It is only compatible with Sony transmitters that have a locking 3.5mm input connector.

No, the ECM-V1BMP features a proprietary wiring specifically for use with Sony wireless transmitters. The internal hot and ground terminations are different so the mic will not work properly with other devices. The Tascam DR-10L features a locking 3.5mm input connector that is compatible with lavalier mics terminated for Sennheiser wireless transmitters such as the Sennheiser ME 2-II Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone (B&H # SEME2II), Sennheiser MKE2 Gold Series Omnidirectional Lavalier Condenser Microphone with Accessories (B&H # SEMKE2EWG) or Countryman B3 Omni Lavalier Mic, Standard Sens, with 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sennheiser Wireless Transmitters (B&H # COB3W4BSR).

The Sony ECM-V1BMP Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Locking Sony 3.5mm Connector is not compatible with the Rode Wireless Pro transmitter. Sony 3.5mm connectors are wired differently from other 3.5mm microphones, and will only work with devices specifically stating compatibility with Sony 3.5mm locking connectors. The Rode Wireless Pro uses a Sennheiser-style 3.5mm locking connector.
